spooky!...i used to read this book all the time when i was little...basically i was trying to see if nas (his street name) had prophecized about stuff like what day my schoolbus would be late, or when my teacher would call in sick so i wouldn't have to study for the exam scheduled to be given that day--you know, that kinda stuff...looking back on it now that i'm (much) older and (somewhat) wiser, i realize the guy was just talking to jinn...big deal...

This book gets quite dry in places because the author tries to tell us everything there is to know about the wives of Joseph Smith and for many of them there is not much interesting to know. That said, it is quite moving to know about the lives of these women, many of whom have received no attention in other Mormon history. If you are interested in early Mormon polygamy this is required reading.

Thought this was wonderful story. Based on a real characters and real events and fleshed out with what characters would possibly have felt and accomplished. Vinnie was very complex and apparently had a very complex relationship with her sister Minnie (also a small person) and P.T. Barnum. She was ambitious and somewhat unlikable. But the times were different and her place in the world was unsure because of her size which she never wanted to be known for only.

This book is very different from Chicki's others. It had a bit of romance, and absolutely no sex. So if you are looking for the typical romance novel than this one isn't for you. There was a clear Christian message from the very beginning of the book. Although I did think Rick was a bit self righteous at times about Tamyra's dancing, he had many redeeming qualities and his heart was in the right place so you couldn't help but love him. Tamyra was a very strong character, and although her choice to be a dancer was questionable, her true purpose was honorable, and you couldn't help but root for her. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending. Tamyra and Rick had some pretty heavy kissing scenes, and one almost turned into much more. There should have been a tasteful love scene at the end since they were both so sexually frustrated throughout the book. If you enjoy uplifting books, with lots of biblical messages then definitely check this one out.
