I re-read Bean Trees before reading this one and I liked the sequel a lot. It was a great story and kept me entertained. Not as thrilling as the first book, but well worth having on my shelf.

This book is the first book in the series that I have read that stands alone as it's own piece of literature. It tells the tale of Jack and Annie's first adventure in Camelot and thus fully in the realm of fantasy and classical literature. Where the previous adventures were rooted in the historical and scientific past, this one steps out of Celtic mythology and is more well rounded for it. A great addition to Osborne's series for young readers.

I whizzed through this book far too quickly, in a rush to finish before we met for bookgroup. Fond of latin fiction in general and a sucker for dark tales of madness and doomed love in wartime settings, I need to revisit. This book has haunted me a bit - sitting on my bedside table as it has now for about two years, patiently waiting for me to pick it back up and spend the time I know it merits.

I liked the story, but the first person, present tense almost ruined it for me. It bothered me the entire time. I would like to know what happens next, but honestly I don't know if I will read it. It was intriguing, but I was distracted the whole time. I would have given it a higher rating for the actual story, but I really dislike first person present tense.

huh...I don't really know how to review this book. I thought the writing was pretty good...although I feel like I was always waiting for something to happen, and rarely did something happen. I really disliked the main woman character, and had a hard time understanding anything about her. She left her children and husband for real burning love. It made me furious with her and I think it ruined her life. I can't think of anything that would make me leave my children...she just up and left. Something is wrong with her. The story is based upon two real life characters that did actually love each other and run away together...it is a pretty tragic story...and in the end just left me feeling sad.

Held Captive It's a long time since I read this novel. I remember being captivated by it and not wanting it to stop. I couldn't work out whether it was basically fantasy trash, but ultimately it didn't matter, I loved it anyway.

I thought this book had some really great moments and was perfect in that it was written by a close friend of kh's(not some random biographer), but also a person renowned for writing biographies. A little too much about the writer at the beginning, but all and all very fun to read about the amazing personality that was katharine hepburn. I made a list of must-see old movies to rent while reading.

It was a fun series to read. It is especially unique to have several authors contributing to the story. I could definitely tell the difference between the writing styles and which authors I preferred over others. Margaret Haddix, I am a fan. Her writing is tight and she involves the readers so you feel invested in the plot. Nice way to end....
