I thoroughly enjoyed this. I spent more time with this than I usually do with fiction, but Austen's prose and characterization are just too good to rush through. The internal emotional subtlety Austen elucidates while retaining her witty narrative distance is remarkable, and I can't wait to read more of her works. Emma next?

This book reminded me of how much I miss traveling and having an adventure. It's really a story of being present in the moment and open to the possibilities that each day brings. Gilbert's choice to leave her marriage and not have children has allowed her the freedom to travel as she wishes and to experience each day fully in whatever way her heart desires. Good for her! I enjoyed living vicariously through her while reading.

Another excellent action packed book from Duane Swiercynski and something just a bit different from your average novel. As I said with The Blonde it's a little bit like being immersed in an action movie. Often with action sequences, chases or fights in prose I get a bit lost but not with this writer. He has such a talent for blasting along and taking you for the ride - yet his writing and characters are believable with asubtle touches too. Like The Blonde there's some nasty, gory violence - as the front cover may lead you to expect. There's an added bonus of stylish comic book illustrations dotted throughout the book. Looking forward to reading more of his work!

This was probably the only political book that I found myself agreeing with almost all the way through. It approaches socialism logically from a pretty liberal point of view and makes a lot of really strong points about how we interpret change and attempt to implement it. The best way to get yourself hooked on this book's concept/see if you like it is by reading the one page conclusion; if you agree with it, you'll love the book.

This book, the sequel to Eragon, continued the story of Eragon and Saphira. Roran, Eragon's cousin, also takes up a good chunk of the story. At first, I was annoyed whenever the story cut to Roran, but eventually I liked seeing what Roran was doing. In the end, the two stories converged as Roran joins Eragon during the big battle. I liked learning about Eragon's training, and the ending makes me eager to read the third book when it comes out. The chapters are very short, probably because the series is technically for young adults (why do so many of my favorite books come under this category?).
