Couldn't put this down! Quick, easy read - moving - laughed & cried throughout it. Danielle Steele develops her characters so well, they feel like a part of your family! This book taught me that when one door closes, another one opens. This heartwarming story told of family struggles, old friendships, and true love overcoming all. It also teaches us to look at our lives and what our priorities are. It makes you want to call your Mom and tell her how much you love and appreciate her - even though you're all grown up!

A personal struggle with alcoholism is something not so easy to put into words. A story's details cannot always be recounted with grace, and the perspective of the alcoholic may not be the perspective of a sober husband. With that said, I am a big fan of Mary Karr. I think she really knows how to write a memoir. AA is just as she describes it, (for those reviewers who wonder where their support group is, they have obviously never found one for their particular ailment.) and I was appreciative of her honesty. There is a lot of talk about finding her particular God, which may not be for the nonbeliever. I do suggest this book for anyone struggling to find their way in alcoholism, or with religion.

I know that many people will associate this book with GCSE English and therefore hate it, but I absolutely love this book. I have re-read it at least 4 times and yet I always enjoy it just as much as I did the first time. It is full of consistent metaphors that create really clear locations and characters, plus it can easily be read in one sitting.

this is the best standard sci-fi book ever. if you want to get gutsy and dip into the genre, this is the book to do it. short, sweet, kids as major characters, and after reading this my step-mother taught it to her 9th grade honors class. HONORS CLASS!
