** spoiler alert ** There ARE spoilers. You have been warned!! My rating is a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I had to step back and marinate on my thoughts about this book right after I finished. Well, being the BDB fan-addict that I am, I took Lover Unleashed release day off from work (what? don't look at me crazy, you know you would too if you could) so I can read unhindered all day. I started early Tuesday morning and finished it early Tuesday evening. Was it worth it? hmmm This book was a mixed of things. Now I LOVED LOVED LOVED Payne and Manny together. There was not enough of them together for me. I also think it was 'suppose' to be more romance on the side of Payne and Manny, her being a virgin and all. (Save me from teh virgins!) It was smexy at times, especially when Manny was 'servicing' Payne to 'help her get better'. But I got a slightly Phury and Cormia vibe every time their plot line showed up. Whole lot of talking and not enough 'doing' if you know what I mean. Shower scene was made of awesome though. If you were reading your kindle version like me, you would note, like I did, that actual smex between them didn't come until like 92% into the book. I think that was some where within the last 5 chapters of the book. There was a lot of V and Jane. A LOT.There was more than I thought there would be, which was not a necessarily a bad thing because V is one of my fav Brothers. And there was some V 'in-hand' and smexin' action so it was all good! It's apparent that V is still having issues even after he's been mated Jane. But it could have been V's book part deux for all the drama he brought. The whole Butch and V BDSM scene was definitely interesting even though the outcome I imagined did not materialize. Then there was the Qhuay. *sigh* We all know that their situation would still remain unresolved, but I still wanted to pull my hair and shake both of them. I'm not quite liking that Layla is mixed into this. Not.At.All. A whole new cast of characters were introduced, and you don't know if you are suppose to like them or hate them after a short little turn of events with Payne. Whose side are they on really? And how much do you really care? I didn't really care about the newbies. There are still too many other brothers that needed attention and didn't get it. There was no Tohr and where was Lassiter? Yes, I know authors probably have to slice and dice and decide what's more important and cannot write about everyone. But still...*sighs* Noticeably absent is a Lessor storyline. Was that because we had so much of it in Lover Mine? Or because the 'band of bastards' showed up and there wasn't enough room in that town for both? Again, hmmm. The whole Veck/Del a Cruz storyline was completely from out of left field for me and I didn't see the point. Where did it tie in? So, was my day spend wisely? I'm glad that I had the chance to read it all in one shot so I wouldn't keep wondering what's next. It's not a bad addition to the series I don't think, but I am just a little disappointed. There was some reveals that I knew were coming (Butch and Manny were brothers) and some I didn't know, that was HUGE (who Qhuinn saw in the Fade). I REALLY missed the smexy. I mean, Manny was FREAKIN' HOT!! (most def phearsom!!) How could you not have him knockin' Payne's boots 24/7? Really? Would I rec this? Even with all the issues I have with this book, yes I would still rec it. If you are a fan of BDB (or a fan-addict like me and have to have all things BDB), you will still want to read this. Even if it's only to understand the stuff that maybe in the next book. And I will probably take the day off again for the next release that I'm highly anticipating. LOL

Could it be that this is a manly book? I enjoyed the stories but the men who've told me about it raved. Gordon HAS to own it. I didn't like it nearly to that degree. But there was definitely some fascinating info and studies presented.

I am really in love with this series. Mercy Thompson is an auto mechanic with the ability to change into coyote form. She is friends (neighbors) with a vampire, is in a love triangle with two dominate werewolves, and knows how to take charge. She is strong yet vulnerable in a human way that brings balance to her character. Overall, a great series to sink your teeth into.

I have read over 60% of this book and I have no idea what it is about. Every time I spend time reading this book I fall asleep. The story is just too slow and unclear. Live is too short to spend more time trying to read this book.
