Well, this one was incredibly depressing. There was a lot of real human emotion in it, and I thought it was a noble writing effort for Kyle's first novel, but my soul was just weeping near the end of it.

Samuel and I read this one often. He loves the part where the piece has a piece in its mouth and it talks silly.

This book is not bad. If you have never read an Ann Lamott book before, it might be pretty good. I have read Traveling Mercies and Plan B, so some of the stories and advice contained in Grace (Eventually) feels recycled. Anne Lamott shook my world with those first two books, not in a "life changing" way, but in a "better understanding of my life as it stands" way. This book serves much more as a refresher course on the first two then a new addition to the cannon.

Interesting book about cotton farming, race, and the Mississippi Delta. Author follows a farmer through one growing season, which happens to coincide with hurricanes Katrina and Rita. A little too much detail on the many, many machines involved in growing, harvesting, and ginning cotton.

This one grew on me. I didn't care for it much at first – Emil, the protagonist, felt like a sub-Holden Caufield caricature and the 1st-person narration seemed a little overwrought, like author Corrigan was trying too hard to get inside the skin of a teenage boy. But as the story progressed – about Emil's struggle to come to terms with the truth about his mom's death, his brother's disappearance, and his attraction to a mysterious girl – I found myself more interested in what he had to say, and it rang more true to me than it did at the beginning. This book rewards the patient reader; you have to be willing to wade through some self-indulgent (albeit character-establishing) narration at the beginning before things really kick into gear.

Very powerful and moving play. I studied this in secondary school for my 'O' levels. Some of the writing virtually leaps off the page.

An absolutely wonderful play- my introduction to Shepard. Led me to Beckett and Brecht, and was a perfectly "me" story. Humans are liars, and we never really get anywhere. Shepard understands my sensibilities.

This book was about a little boy's journey through the concentration camps during the 1940's. I thought that this book was insperational and moving. I liked it because it showed the true intensity of the concentration camps. It meet my expectations, because of the part where the old woman goes crazy on the train due to dehidration and other causes. I was forced by my mom to read it for summer reading, but in the end I am glad to have read it.
