It's a bookclub book. I'll admit that I watched the movie before I started reading the book. So far the book is better than the movie (turns out a 2 hour movie about a couple fighting about nothing in particular is not that entertaining. and is kind of a turn off).

Liked it, interesting, but I kept putting it down and not starting it back up. Took a while.

A very discovery indeed. This is the first book I read of B.A. Tortuga. The story intrigued me, cause I have read in an newspaper that a Milan student made lap dance by night to pay his tuition, and when I found a very similar plot, I wanted to read it In this book Dale is a young texan student who works by night in a dance club. One night an Italian businessman (oh yes, another Italian... just say it, Italians do it better!) arrive to the club and want Dale for a private dance. After this first encounter, Dale and Gen (short name for Adriano Genovese) start a relationship at distance, but together they try to make thing go well. Dale is young and open, almost shy sometimes. He needs money but doesn't want that Gen pays for him. He likes really Gen, because Gen is a very gentleman. I can recall in Gen the typical italian male, very protective with his lover. One thing I like very much is that, even if Gen is very jelous of Dale, he doesn't shame Dale for it: he knows that jelousy is not justify, so he tries to repress it. And the sex scenes... very hot. In this months I read a lot of books, so to really excite me the sex scenes must be very well written... and this is the case: the sex is simple, no kinky sex, but natural and enjoyable. Very arousal. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/16...

** spoiler alert ** This book was ok. I would rate it a 3.5. Serena Boyce and Lucien Clayborne. Serena is married to a much older and impotent man, Lord Warrington who asks her to take on a lover in order for him to have a legitimate heir before he dies, so that his horrible nephew, Alastair will not inherit. Serena loves her husband and considers him her best friend. At his request, she ends up going to Vauxhall with a widowed friend, gets robbed, and ends up getting saved by Lucien, the handsome green eyed man with a shattered knee. They have sex, he realizes that she's a virgin, she leaves before he wakes up. Lucien has been burned before. He had gone through a divorce after his wife had ran off with his good friend, his daughter was killed when she was run over by a carriage after leaving the house in search of her mother. This, he blames himself for. Warrington finds out about Serena's night with him and puts him in his will to watch over her should he get murdered; which he does. Lucien spends a great deal of time trying to find out why exactly Serena was still a virgin and what her purpose was in sleeping with him that one night. Alistair ends up coming after her and trying to kill her but in the end it all works out, of course.

Forget Rushdie and all the others. Narayan is the greatest Indian novelist around, who writes with a measured, calm, humble, charming, tickling certainty that can only come from being the son of thousands of years of history.

this is the only book i've ever read while pacing. it created a near-religious fervor in me. the language awed me. the description of death for the living made me afraid. felt like little bones snapping in my chest. felt like there might be graveyard dirt under my fingernails when i shut its cover.

Sehr gutes Buch, wobei es sehr erschreckend ist, wie sich mancher Mensch einem anderen gegenueber verhaelt.
