When I was in high school, one of my goals was to read the entire collection of fiction books in the school library. It wasn't that extensive, maybe a couple of bookshelves. I naturally started with the A's. After reading a lot of medicore and forgettable books, I reached Austen. What a gem! I read ALL her books including her unfinished novel Sandition . Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy are the classic couple who strongly dislike each other at first sight but gradually fall in love. I love Austen's writing style. She is very sharp in her observations of people. She never outright says Mrs. Bennet is foolish but shows us by Mrs. Bennet's action. When Lydia marries Wickham, Mrs. Bennet is more concerned about Lydia's wedding trosseau then the fact that Lydia had runaway with Wickham before getting married. I also like how both Elizabeth and Darcy overcame their stereotypes of each other to fall in love. Elizabeth assumes Darcy to be the typical rich snob and Darcy assumes Elizabeth to be as foolish and low-class as her family. The happy ending is completely earned.

I loved this book. I always love reading about Cat and Bones and their adventures. And this one didn't disappoint at all. I just hate that we have to wait till the fall for the sixth book, One Grave At A Time. But I shouldn't complain because it will be here before I know it. :)

I'm so wrapped up with this series. I finished this book last night and was sad when I went to read at lunch and it wasn't a book in this series! I didn't like this one quite as much as "Game of Thrones" but I loved reading a couple of new perspectives and really liked the changes in character we are seeing from the Stark kids after all that has happened. Can't wait for number 3!

Sitting on my night table, getting shifted in and out of rotation, I can't quite engage with this collection as I did with Paris to the Moon. Though I enjoy Gopnik as a modern essayist and journalist, I find his prose at its most fluid and his observations their most keen and profound when his children are at the nexus of the social moment he's capturing- "Bumping into Mr. Ravioli" stands out as a favorite so far.

Ack! I loved the concept of this. Absolutely adored it in fact - and it is a real inspirational classic that should be read by all if the chance arises. The plot is brilliantly intense, bloody, brutal. There is no hesitation in bringing characters to their ultimate end; pretty damn awesome and I really wanted to rave about it... And yet for me all of this 'she crushes on him' and 'he fancies her' let it down. I found it irritating and tiresome. It was very difficult for me to keep tabs on who each of the copious amounts of characters were, and nearly impossible to remember which of them was where. One or two of the characters definitely stood out however, and I was routing for them to get through it. All in all a good read that leaves much to talk about, but personally, I found some aspects of it annoying.

The Surgeon is mystery, suspense novel. It is based in Boston Massachusetts and Savannah Georgia. The woman Catherine Cordell is a doctor whom was raped 2 years earlier in Savannah Georgia. She has kept the past in the past and doesn't talk about the rape. She has made her life so that she feels secure and is always on the alert for possible things to happen. Dr. Cordell now lives in Boston and the murders start again. It is believed that Catherine has killed the man responsible in Savannah. The detectives involved in this case are, Thomas Moore and Jane Rizzoli. When the first murder happens in Boston Tom and Jane have to talk to Dr. Cordell. Jane is a woman working in a mans field and always feels that she is judged differently then the men. Tom is known as Saint Thomas because he seems to never do anything wrong. I found myself wanting to read when ever I had a free moment. I would hide the book under my desk and read while everyone else was working. I found myself thinking about the story as I would fall asleep at night. The Surgeon is a well executed mystery book. Tess Gerritsen kept me on the edge of my seat during the whole book. If you are looking for a new mystery writer then give Tess Gerritsen a try.
