I must have been incredibly naive back in high school when I read this because it scared the pants off me. But what made me not forget it was that she died in the end anyway. That made me incredibly sad. I knew it was poorly written but I figured that was realistic since it was supposedly written by a teen. yes, I don't usually like moralizing and I don't like deceit but drugs are such an enormous problem with teens that if it helps even one kid stay away from drugs, where's the harm? My own daughter fell into drugs incredibly fast, literally within a few weeks. She went from being afraid to be outside by herself to running away, doing drugs, and sleeping around to get them (including with adults) within the space of less than a month. True, she is not wired right and her birth mother and birth grandmother did the same thing, but it still was shocking to all of us in the field how fast it was.

Another great "Cat who..." mystery. I have enjoyed the ones set in Pickax a little better than the first ones, and this was another good book. The activities of the cats are very realistic - as a cat owner I recognize many of them!

I totally loved this book. I loved the way the series wrapped up. This book will be one of my favorites for a very long time. I loved all the characters, but especially Will, Jem, and Tessa, and Charlotte. I laughed and cried throughout this book and there were also some, "Oh YEAH"s. lol I would love it if Cassandra Clare would write more about the characters and their families up to the City of Bones. I would love to read about all the shadow hunters that came from these families and their adventures fighting evil together. I would love to see how all their lives would entwine all the way to Jace and Clary.

What can I say? I love Malcolm Gladwell. (in an admiring, not stalker-ish way). Like his many articles in the New Yorker and his book, The Tipping Point, this is a thought provoking read that gets you thinking about we think.

I've been wanting to read this ever since I saw the movie (which was NOT about the civil war, but which I expected to be so I was confused for the first half hour...waiting for the British-accented people to finally get to the US!) Anyway, it's so long that I just kept putting it off, but when I found an audio version I was able to enjoy it in it's entirety while working out, traveling and painting the nursery. I found it especially appealing since the reader was British.

I agree to the book's idea. I've been already noticing it applications in life and biographies. Yet, I didn't like the book. It's too much talking, repeating, explaining, as if it was a book for dummies! Bottom line, a booklet of 30 pages maximum would have been more than enough.

Somehow I missed ever being assigned this for school so I read it last year. I'm sure I just lack an appreciation for good literature but I found it dark, repetitive, and feared it would never end. Then when it was over I was glad I'd read it but perhaps just so I could say I had. It did have a lot of good passages, I just wished I'd read an abridged version.
