After the long and usually useless hunt to find an Anne Gracie novel I have to say...I'm sooooo disappointed. The storyline was pretty unique but other than that it's Rated PG with one little bitty (no pun intended) sex scene. The description of each others eyes throughout was the steamiest this couple got (Blah!). I don't know about you but I need more than that in a romance novel... Gabe didn't have any issues whatsoever (usually I gripe because the hero just can't get over himself but there has to be a balance). He was just this happy go lucky guy that just happened to be a little bored with his life and ran into princess on the run. This book has some pretty high ratings but I honestly don't get it... Personally I think this review is more entertaining...Hahaha...Ummm and that's saying a lot. Do you ever wonder if you're reading the same book as everyone else?!.

Very easy reading, but not necessarily geared toward young teens. It is an inspiring parable that challenges the reader of any age to pursue his/her God-given dreams despite the obstacles and challenges.

Obviously this book is not for everyone, especially the faint-of-heart. It’s over the top with gore. The characters are straight out of Dickens: the orphan, the alienist, the monstrumologists (particularly the sunny Dr. John Kearns, who may or may not be Jack the Ripper in his spare time). It’s also a rousing adventure story that explores father and son relationships. Cheeky in its gruesomeness, it would, no doubt, make an excellent movie.

I have been reading all the Tom Perrotta books and I think this one might be the saddest, in terms of what it reveals about the nature of dreams and in this case, not knowing when to let them go. Many of the later books involve some middle aged person undergoing a crisis (with the exception of Joe College, which is about a 20-something) but this one is about a somewhat younger character and has the funny yet depressing theme of growing up and getting over your adolescence. This is the story of Dave, guitarist in the wedding group the Wishbones, who somewhat impulsively decides to ask his girlfriend of fifteen years to marry him. The fact that he has been with the same girl...on and off...for so long indicates a serious problem, an inability to get over himself and commit to something other than his music. Additionally, there is his affair with a woman in the city, which tests and challenges his upcoming marriage and makes him wonder why he is going through with it. He is hanging on to his dream of being a rock star when the dream has long since moved past him. It is heartbreaking, but you spend more time laughing out loud at the way the story unfolds. I enjoy Tom Perrotta's books so much I almost hate that I read them so fast. I also think that he has an excellent sense for writing about relationships, often nailing the many feelings we go through when we are in one. Soooo good! Bad Haircut next!

This book is everything that Shiver is, but MORE. Sam and Grace have more sweet moments, more sad moments, more moments where I have to walk away because I'm so full of feeling I feel like I'm going to burst. More enigma, in the form of Grace's mysterious disease, and in the enigma himself that is Cole St. Clair. More hope when Sam contemplates his future. There are more characters to flip POV between. More idiotic instances in which Grace's parents fail. And more moments where I want to cry because of what happens in the end. Just like Shiver, Maggie manages to write all of the characters in this series so raw that their emotions transfer themselves to you, and you understand completely why they are doing the things that they are doing. If Forever gets any more intense, I don't know how I am going to bear it.
