A fast pace Jane Austen. Fantasy and Austen. Lovely just like Jane Austen! what can I say, I loved this book. At first, the whole magic thing caught me off guard and it was definitely new, but once I got myself started, I couldn't stop! It's a must read for all Jane Austen fans. Even though the plot and detail was much faster than Austen's work, it was wonderfully and beautifully written. I'm so glad i read this book and I would definitely recommend it!

I don't know what I was expecting but this one was really good. Set during the civil rights movement in South Carolina, a young white girl runs away with her black housekeeper hoping to find information about the mother she lost as a little girl. The story deals with descrimination, abuse, faith, loss, love, and relationships. A truly great read!

This might have been the first novel, not counting Roald Dahl shit, that really affected me. I was eleven when I read it and became obsessed with Ralph, Jack, Piggy, Samneric, et. al. The simple, quirky schoolboy language is what makes it that much more upsetting.

Hmmm...mixed feelings on this one. I like how Hesse developed Siddhartha's character during Siddhartha's spiritual journey, but I found it hard to really become engrossed in the book. Siddhartha is practically a sociopath throughout 90% of the novel, and that made it very hard for me to sympathize with him on any level.
