Pluck out any one person’s life for close examination, and you’ll find yourself with a whole pages of footnotes about others; an entire cast of secondary characters that influenced the path that the person takes (or doesn’t). This book traces the life of Daisy Goodwill (who narrates, an observer of her life), from her unexpected birth on her mother’s kitchen floor in 1905 through her death in the nineties. Her story unfolds like a kind of scrapbook of her existence, only she is the one behind the lens, mostly taking pictures of everyone else. I liked how the book is written, even though it took me a while to adapt to the occasional shift from first person narrator to third person omniscient. Certain parts were especially clever, such as the photographs included and one, entirely epistolary chapter. I couldn’t help but feel like I was back in a women’s lit class while reading it, the professor’s voice pinging away at the chapters (“Why do you think this character is important?” “Do we know who Daisy Goodwill is by the end of the book?” etc.). Overall, a very enjoyable read.

This is an easy fun read - true story about a woman who fresh out of college joined CIA as a spy and became totally disillusioned about her job. She keeps it mostly lighthearted though - I read it in a couple of hours!

Read this book in less than two days...incredible story that I could not tear myself away from. I would love to keep reading about Jack as he grows up.

Short, shorter as an audiobook. small pieces of story seeping into my head 25min at a time. jumping 8-16 hrs around my life just like a star wars film festival isent. All the parts of the story seem lost and far away, obscured by arbitrary limitations of time and my crap MP3 players storage capacity. Its like remembering a dream you told someone about. then forgot. anyways. Tender is a farm boy raised by some crazy menanite like cult valley in the middle of nowhere. At 17 hes sent out into the world to realize the horror of the modern world juxtaposed to his own memories of simple life on the farm. Hes a labor missionary, sent into the land of nod to do gods work. And it seems gods work is scrubbing floors, cleaning carpets and taking care of rich people. Not to give anything away, but my favorite parts include: Tender eating a live lobster. (Hes to busy on the phone to botice its hearts still beating) Tender talking about getting stains out of thong underpants. (they should just make the string part black, LOLz) Tender losing his verginity. (the first thing the girl asks is "do you mind sloppy 2nds?" I think i would recommend borrowing this one. Or get it 2nd hand. Maybe ok for a lazy sunday or a short plane flight. But lacks the beefeyness im coming to expect from chuck. I dont know how long this one is, but it seemed to go by quickly.

I was hoping for a fun, light, chick-lit book to breeze by and make me feel great. While this book was an easy read I felt as though I was reading something written by a high school teenager who got dumped on prom night. The story is told in the first person by a woman who is 28 and got dumped on her wedding day. The entire book she struggles to admit she gets dumped and dates a string of unbelieveable losers. Her attitude is that of a bitter old woman who will "never" find love and her speech is of an adolescent teen who just discovered boys. Yet, in my opinion the plot was not the worst part, the writing was. I found multiple grammatical errors in the book and often the book had repetitve lines that were not funny the first time around. The only reason I read the book to begin with was all of the rave reviews I read about it. I also finished the book until the end just to give it a fighting chance. Sadly it just keeps getting worse.

My motivation for reading this novel was kindled after reading Those who love and the fact that I love art. This Novel is about Camille Pisarro one of the founders of French impressionism. Wonderful and insightful but it really floundered towards the end.

Very fun book. Can't believe that I had not read the Harry Potter books before this. The movie actually complimented the book and vice versa.

This book was amazing!!!! I had totally not expected it to turn out the way it did. This girl named Janine is in a car accident and when she comes back, she has here dead twin (who died a long time ago) in her head living part of her life. It's not scary, just odd and really good!
