I don't own many poetry books, but this is one of the few and a rare jewel among them. My favorite poem is I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, since it's meaning is different for whoever reads it.

This was how I finally got my little one to get excited about the scriptures! Instead of being frustrated at scripture time, he asked for another chapter and then another chapter. That is the upside!! The downside is that if you want your child to understand scripture language, "thou"s, "and it came to pass", etc. your child is not going to get that from the stories. Also, the powerful testimonies of the prophets are not included. It is a story book with the general story line. So my advice is to use it to get the story line accross but to supplement every once in a while with the real deal and talk about about the lessons learned with your child.

While extraordinarily well written, I could not suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy it. There were many interesting and likable relationships in the book, plus it had a great mix of science and storytelling, but I still couldn't bring myself to give four stars. Bel Canto was much better!

Still one of the biggest shockers in English literature. More of a portrait of tragedy than a true tragedy, as is the case with all of Hardy. He maintains an arm's length divide between the story and the reader, which is off-putting and awkward. But this may be the most intimate story he ever wrote, which makes the shock all the more effective.
