Although clearly nursing a broken heart, and slightly overly self-pitying, this author has written an incredibly smart book. It's so creative and tells a good story. This is a writer to watch.

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I had just been recommended the author, so I picked something by Robbins. The story itself has it's ups and downs, but I loved his epic and mythical style. I hadn't read such a "large" story in a while. Some people may find certain topics in the book strange and uncomfortable, but I think you'll still find yourself enjoying the overall story and his style of writing.

القصه رائعه.... لا اتصور كم عانى المسلمون فى غرناطه على ايدي القشتاليين قد ينقص القصه بعض الوصف للاماكن... ولكن تتابع الشخصيات على مدي العصور فى الروايه و وصف ادق احاسيس الظلم والمهانه كان يفوق الوصف هل كانت لا مبالاه المسلمين فى تلك الحقبه هى واقع ما نعيشه الان من اللا مبالاه بما يقاسيه المسلمون فى سوريا؟؟ هل الزمن يعود الى الوراء؟؟؟؟

graphically intense. the ounce of hope at the end of this book didn't do much to assauge the horrors of the previous chapters, but then again, it's not meant to. i wonder how much this relates to our understanding of afghanistan today.

This is my 61st Perry Mason story (a couple of them are short stories, most are novels). The legal points are always interesting, and the dedications are also informative. These novels were written during the formative years of the forensic sciences as we know them; many of the cases would not have gone to court at all in the current days of dna analysis. It is most interesting to see how things were done 'back in the day', though the courtroom legal issues have not changed much. Lawyers for prosecution and defense both use the finer points of law as part of their overall strategy in various cases.

Pretty good first effort. I liked that there was good character development. There also seemed to be a story within a story which keeps you interested in what will happen next. That's the good parts. It seems a little wordy - unnecessarily. Book one was more than 400 pages and the book would have been just as good at around 200 pages. I was extremely disappointed with the end of the book. I guess I should have been prepared for the ending given this is a serial novel, I wasn't. This isn't a really good book and it isn't a really bad book. But it also is not a real page turner, it is just a book.
