Alex's hilarious translations are enough reason to read this book, but Jonathan Safran Foer (I'm pretty sure you have to say the full name every time you refer to him) gives you so much more. An amazing story of finding your roots and ultimately tolerance and forgiveness.

I LOVED this story! I don't know why it took me this long to read this, since I bought it a while ago. People kept asking me if I had read it yet, and I kept putting it off. Once I started reading, the story just grabbed me and didn't let go until I reached the end! Travis and Abby's relationship is like watching a train wreck happening right before your eyes! They are so wrong for each other, and yet, you cheer them on hoping they will be OK by the end. I laughed, cried, and felt the frustration and emotions these two went through. The story is told in Abby's POV. She is a strong heroine, a survivor, and is not afraid to make painful choices. Travis Maddox is one of the most well-written, temperamental characters I've ever come across. He is relentless, a hothead, but he is also loyal to the people closest to him. I just love Travis! I can't wait for Walking Disaster, this story told in Travis' POV!!! Favorite LOL moment: The scene where I had the song (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones playing in my head all night! :) I could kick myself for not reading this sooner, but now that I have, I highly recommend!!!

Chick-lit story about the formerly overweight Addie and her best friend from childhood. Story shifts back and forth between childhood and adulthood and quickly takes on a "murder mystery" quality when events go awry during a high school reunion. Weiner tells the story as she winds through the lives of several characters. It wasn't a gripping read, but there were a few surprising twists and turns among the predictable events. Light summer reading.

My daughter gave me this book as a gift because she said one of the characters reminded me of her. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. It was an inspirational story about aging and friendship full of a lot of great lessons on life, and it was hilarious! It felt like these women were my close friends and I was right beside them on their journey. Is there a sequel?
