Suomennos on hyvä. Jos on kiinnostunut kyseenalaistamaan omia näkökulmiaan tai haluaa kevyesti filosofista purtavaa mielelle eikä kavahda ohjeistavaa ilmaisutapaa, uskallan suositella. Kahdentoista askeleen ohjelma on ehkä hankala muistaa kohta kohdalta arjessa, mutta kirjaa jäsentämässä se toimii. Erityisesti pidin muutamista yksittäisistä, nerokkaista huomioista, kuten siitä miten nykyään kaiken oletetaan olevan täsmällisesti selitettävissä eikä ikiaikaisia vertauskuvallisia tarinoita ja niiden merkityksiä enää malteta yrittää ymmärtää ja tulkita nykykonteksteista käsin, sekä runsaista ehdotuksista jatkolukemiseksi. Neljä reipasta tähtöstä, joista yksi kokonainen pelkästään kiitokseksi kiinnostavista lukuvinkeistä.

A good and fair book about Gnosticism. Wright uses a more approachable writing style than in his other books. Again, he is baiting the reader with a title like "Have We Missed the Truth about Christianity?" The answer, as always with Wright's subtitles, is no.

I rather expected more from this having read An Instance of the Fingerpost, The Dream of Scipio, and The Raphael Affair. Put bluntly I found this pedestrian for the most part. I did enjoy some of the more lively interchanges between the character but the mystery itself as well as the interplay amongst the crew in Italy left much to be desired in my opinion. However it is a nice fluffy read for summer and I suspect many will find this just to their tastes.

Pretty funny (certainly not as funny as Lamb, but it had good moments). So, loosely summarized, this is Moore's version of King Lear, told in the genre of crude British comedy (is that redundant?) and from the point of view of the fool. One of my favorite moments that encapsulates what you have to look forward to: "The sound of boots on stone echoed in the dungeon and I looked up to see the bastard Edmund walk into the torchlight. He kicked one of the unconscious guards and looked at them like he'd just discovered monkey come in his Weetabix." At this point in the narrative, there's a footnote after the word Weetabix and at the bottom of the page you'll find the explanation: "Weetabix - a British cereal biscuit whose taste and texture are generally thought to be improved by the addition of monkey come." Enjoy!
