I have always loved to geek out on his writing. I love the depth of his research and the way he makes connections. Highly recommend doing this one as a book on tape, as Malcolm himself reads it. Perfect.

I gained an appreciation for the gravity of the holocaust; I was moved by that storyline. On the other hand, the main story is highly sexual and I thought unnecessarily. I am pretty desensitized to sexuality in artistic mediums, but this was excessive. Still, the prose is engaging, if a little too long...

L-O-V-E loved it! Rich is the best word I can use to describe this tale. The characters were full of passion and heart. I was ready to march over the mountain singing at the top of my voice right along with the village. This kind of story makes me want to be a time-traveller!

A powerful book. The writing is beautiful; there were moments that I wished I had my computer and/or notepad along (I read it on vacation) so that I could jot down quotes, and when I finished it, I wished I could keep it longer so that I could read it again. But alas, it is from the public library and has too many holds for me to renew it. I will be putting another hold on it though. The alternating voices of Little Bee and Sarah were real to me, and the story unfolded perfectly. Charlie/Batman provided enough humor and sweetness so that I could continue reading this really hard story. Highly recommend!
