Very comfortable read. 40 yr old lady divorced once, meets 44 yr old man who's wife died three years prior. She operates a bakery that is being shoved out by a mega greocery store chain. He is the lawyer trying to get her to accept the buyout being offered. Very nice book.

I have good memories of reading Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine back in middle and high school. I used to buy stacks of them from the bookstore and then absolutely zoom through them, reading a new one each day. I recently got Weekend from the trade-a-book, for old time's sake. I was really enjoying it, but the ending was just dumb. BUT it's a book written for young teenagers, so my expectations weren't too high. It was kind of cool to take a trip down memory lane. :)

I really, really, really loved this book. I love the characters and the action and that the love triangle never really had a chance to be developed into a love triangle. It would've been 5 stars if not for the epilogue. Which I found silly. I feel that we could've gotten the same ending for the characters in a way that would've made ten thousand times more sense.

This seemed really scattered at first, and it still does, but by the end I began to see something resembling continuity and connections. I like Sebald's style, but I'd prefer that he clarify why he's talking about all these subjects instead of jumping around and assuming we will follow. This book would make a great syllabus or extremely linked-up hypertext, with all its historical ties and many authors to explore.
