A very good, quick read. Very good characters, although there is some 'speed it up' factor, ex- Hero wouldn't have gotten teased so soon so much, I mean, they're in sixth grade, and Elise Broach had them acting like six-year-olds. Still, very satisfying.

It's a good story. Nothing precisely wrong with it though I didn't really feel anything for the characters. That's why 3/5. Just didn't care either way for them. Otherwise the story and writing r good.

I really thought this book didn't live up to the hype. I didn't find hilarious, or really all that believable.

Karen Chance's 'Cassandra Palmer' series kicks off with this entertaining, but pretty confusing, installment. Cassie is a clairvoyant who was raised by Tony, a mafioso vampire, who used her talents for profit having had her parents killed to gain complete control of Cassie. When Cassie, as a teenager, learned of her parents fate she got her revenge by turning State's witness and letting human law punish Tony for his involvment in organised crime. As the series opens Cassie is in the witness protection program, but finds out her cover has been blown and needs to make a run for it...she doesn't get far before she's neck deep in supernatural problems.... In Cassie's 'world' there is a dizzying array of supernatural species - vampires, mages, fey, weres, clairvoyants and more. I spent the first half of the book very confused as Chance throws all of this, complete with interspecies politics, history, and at least a half dozen main characters at the reader in the first half of the book. As soon as she chucked time travel into the mix I was completely lost. For all the confusion it's a pretty decent read. There are some similarities to Laurell K Hamilton, but thus far only in the good sense. I'm going to read the others before I pass judgement on the series, I'm hoping that having gotten the series preliminaries out of the way the stories in the future volumes will make more sense.... I'd recommend this book, it's definately worth a look...

*edit* Someone checked it out today, and I told him I liked Fitgerald's writing, mentioning Great Gatsby. He was like, 'Great Gatsby? Couldn't get into it.' Are you serious?? Well, if you didn't like that one, it's pretty much guaranteed you won't be into this, either! F. Scott's characterizations are all pretty much interchangable, and the stories are shallow fluff, but it all represents the opulent 20's before the Great Depression-as it were. Take it or leave it! F. Scott Fitzgerald is great reading on those lazy days when you have free-time to just lounge and imagine the time period of which he wrote, the opulent, swinging twenties. I think it's really great, classic American literature. These short stories are original, not as good as Gatsby, but good. Having written this, I am just going to add that I understand why F. Scott's writing might not appeal to everyone-characters are often players-wealthy, careless, and inherently selfish. It's difficult to not resent them, just a little bit...and I'm going to stop there, because you can totally tell I'm in a much different mood then when I wrote the above paragraph. Have to be in the right frame of mind to read this stuff...

I picked up this book based on D's recommendation. I always enjoy reading a book that is set in my city, and I believe the main character lived in the same building as I did in college (or the one across the street). I loved the imperfection of the characters - very approachable and realistic.

Zarif yazılmış otobiyografi. Barack hakkında ne sevilmiyor?
