Certainly not my favorite children's book. It's okay and the story about the spotted rabbit is pretty good. But, I wouldn't spend the bucks for a nice hardback copy like I have.

Good, but not great. Challenging read because Reed nails the language of her narrators, but ultimately the psychology of the characters remains superficial, and the underlying concept feels a bit wobbly.

**4.5 stars** I really liked this one. It started a little slow, but I'm not a huge fan of murder/mystery/suspense books, so it probably was more me than the book. This plot device was new for the Julie James books I've read before. Once I figured out what was going on, I really, really enjoyed this book and OMG THERE WAS ACTUALLY SEX IN THIS ONE. That has been a BIG complaint with the Julie James books I've read - there is awesome UST and chemistry between the characters, but it falls flat with the fade to black when we get to the grown up activities...but not with this one!! In the end, I really enjoyed the mystery/suspense aspect of the story and the dialogue was really great as usual. I just love her writing. It's so witty and sexy and fun to read. The male characters are always so flippin' hot and swoony, and the the female characters sassy and smart.

the book i read was the hobbit it was about billbo T. baggens when 12 dwarfs come to his house and make him go on a adventure to find there gold but a dragon is guarding it he and the dwarfs sleep in a mouton and goblans drag them into there layer and try to kill them they mange to escape but billbo T. baggens gets lost and finds gollom he is a creey white monster he trys to eat billbo T. baggens but gollems loses his ring and billbo escapes. i like the book very much my favorite part was when billbo met the dragon if you are going to read it you have to read for a long time it took me 2 months to finish it and it gets boring at some parts but other than that the book is great the end

Koppett's Concise History of Major League Baseball is a sweeping survey of our National Pastime. Leonard Koppett takes the reader from baseball's disputed origins all the way to free agency. Reading through this 500+ page book (and they're big pages, trust me) puts all of problems of today's game - rules changes, free agency, threats of strikes, steriods, etc. - in true perspective. I highly recommend it to anyone who considers himself or herself a fan of the game, but a word of warning - don't try to bite it all off in one weekend. Koppett's Concise History is best taken in bits and pieces.

This book has been fiercely anticipated by nearly every 3rd to 6th grader in the land for months. I found it to be the least enjoyable of the three "Wimpy Kid" books, it seems to be missing much of the quirky humor that made the first two hits with many tweens. This opinion was backed up by my own tween, who said the book was "just okay...nothing special, and not as good as the first one".

This is a 1987 translation of the diary of Heinrich Klutschak, who was the artist for the Schwatka expedition that wandered around King William Island and found Franklin party relics in 1878-1880. The diary was published in Germany, but this is apparently the first English translation. Now...I liked this book quite a bit. Because it is a diary, it's gives the feel of being there, but since the translation is modern, attitudes, vocabulary, and grammar are tuned for modern sensibilities. And there's a lot to like about the book. This expedition, in contrast to most of the arctic explorers (excepting of course John Rae) adopted Inuit methods wholeheartedly, and this trip had no deaths or serious injuries. In a lot of ways this book is more a travelogue slash anthropological journey than the typical Northwest Passage Explorer book. And it's backed up enough footnotes to help explain some of the things and compare them to later searches or modern interpretations. Klutschak talks about things like the terrain and little details of arctic travel - how inhabited snow houses get covered in lumps from patching them, for example, all illustrated with his sketches. The afterword briefly describe expeditions since then to look for Franklin relics, which is also interesting. (Apparently by burying the skeletons they found, the Schwatka guys destroyed any hope of future expeditions figuring out exactly where things happened. Whoops.) This book is a little obscure, I guess, but if you're interested in what Arctic Travel was like in the 1880s, I would *highly* recommend this book. Now, if you know nothing about the Franklin expedition, this might be a little confusing (there is a brief introduction, but that whole mess had so many parts that I think it would have been confusing if that were all I had to go on). My minor quibble is that I would have liked it if the maps had traced the party's route on it, but, overall, highly recommended.
