Usually I think the book is better then the movie but in the case the movie is better then the book. They both capture you but I must say I think the lines are better written in the movie. So I give the movie five stars but the book closely follows with four!

With it's simple prose, this book captures so many themes. Honoring parents and customs, waiting (truly the most apt-titled book I've ever read) for love, longing for what you don't have, standing by commitments made, and then regretting decisions. I couldn't help myself from thinking of 2 of my favorite songs. One by Sheryl Crowe with the classic line of "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got." The other, a favorite by the Eagles, Wasted Time - "And I could have done so many things, baby, if I could only stop my mind from wondrin’ what I left behind and from worrying ’bout this wasted time.." I think both Lin and Manna (and Shuya, for that matter) would have liked both these songs! Anyway - I enjoyed the book and I'm sure I'll be mulling it over for quite some time.

I loved this book! Although I have been crying all afternoon. It taught/reminded me about a lot of life's lessons. I'm not sure I will actually be able to sit through the upcoming movie though.

This book gets a bad rap. It's dark, absurd, and hilarious. Like Tim Burton at his best (that is to say, Beetle juice/Edward Scissorhands/Batman... any of his movies about orphans or lost children).

One of the strangest King's books. I felt like he showed me a candy and then he hid it away... and didn't give it to me, which is not a thing that a novelist should do. I felt disappointed because the good and interesting start went away. A little bit weird piece ot psychology of the 60's didn't save the rest. Sorry, Mr. King.

I have had this book on my nightstand for the last month or so and I have just not picked it up to read....I think I just needed a break from all the thrillers I had been reading. With that said, I loved it! I highly recommend it, I thought it was one of the best I've read by Mariah Stewart. Plus, it drew in characters from other novels and tied up some loose ends. So glad I finally read it!

I have heard from several people that I should read Megan McCafferty’s Bumped, It was touted as a great one of a kind YA novel that will get the reader to think about present day issues. I agree with these statements. Yes McCafferty gets the reader to think about issues like teen pregnancy, environmental factors, and our society’s ever demanding call for a fountain of youth. One of the most important things to remember about Bumped is that it is satirical. It exaggerates current fallacies in our society to make a point. To say to the reader “Beware, the future could turn out as I have predicted.” I believe that this is why Bumped received such mediocre reviews on Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. However, I believe that this was a great story and deserves to be read. The only thing that bothered me as a reader was the confusing vernacular. Such words as pregging and fertiliscious were very hard to read and comprehend. I found myself stumbling mid paragraph, which ultimately let me to re-read passages multiple times. Overall, the story is very good: it has a great plot that progresses consistently, the characters are well developed (well the main characters), and the ending tied everything up well enough to not make the reader feel as if the author cheated them. Take my recommendation and read Bumped.

Not as great as I was expecting. Most of the recipes used quinoa flour. I was looking for ways to use quinoa as it is, like pilafs and stuff - which, they did have some of those, but not a ton.
