It was so nice to go back to a place where good wins because it's supposed to. Coming back to The world of the Belgariad was like coming home to old friends and family.

a disturbing look into american violence. the first "true crime" account leaves you questioning the roots causes of violence, and the consequences within our criminal justice system. capote's word choice is flawless.

I liked this book at the beginning, and there were funny moments, but the story line just got predictable and kind of lame. I read the first in the series and enjoyed it well enough, but think I'll pass on the rest of the series.

A whinny teenage girl who doesn't fit in and plays victim? Check A cute boy that falls in love with her just because the author says so? Check A plot missing way too many details leaving lots of holes? Check It seems anyone these days can hop on the this YA Fantasy train and become a published writer. Honestly, is there any stint of originality anymore? Don't get me wrong, I love a good vampire, angel, mermaid or in this case faery book, however everything was just the same. And to be honest, I really haven't read too many faery books. But I have read many YA and especially YA Fantasy and they all follow this chart of what will happen at the designated time. But, I have to admit: I picked up the second book (which was slightly more exciting) and now want to read the rest- even though they are not the best. I'm really unsure as to why, but I want to know what happens to the characters... Well I know what will happen, but I'm just curious how they will happen. And there is probably a part of me that is hoping to be surprised. These books had so much potential.

I quite enjoyed this book. It was difficult to put down. But my problem laid with with the main character Faythe. She was meant to be sassy and determined - a force to be reckoned with. All that was fine, she was all of those things. However, what was irritating about her was that she did come across as quite bitchy and selfish. The only time in the entire book she thought about anybody else before herself was when trying to protect her cousin. I suppose her persona irked me because it was showing an assertive independent woman as not a very nice person. She could have still been all those things and been a little nicer. So while I thoroughly enjoyed the story line, I'm not sure if I will continue on with the series, just because I don't find it as enjoyable to read a book when the lead character, who you are supposed to be routing for is so annoying, I could happily slap her.

** spoiler alert ** Mountolive Have finished the book. The characters in the entire quartet are sensual and erotic but I think this chapter epitomizes the basis of the sexual desire for each other. Justine is a type of Lilith, a succubus. Justine and Nessim's marriage is a sexual passion based on dominance and control; a power based lust. Melissa is the needy character in all the books thus far. The erotism in the books seems to have no basis in traditional ideas of romance. This is what makes the Alexandria Quartet a fascinating series of stories. The internal plot or agenda behind all the seemingly mindless sex is revealed. Also it all unravels for Justine, Nessim, and Narouz. Pursewarden and Melissa are die or are already dead. They are just brought back in Mountolive's memory to fulfill the convoluted plot. As always keeping track of the characters in the series is a challenge within itself. The first two books of the Alexandria Quartet were the foreplay, lovemaking and orgasm, these last two books; Mountolive and Clea are the climax, then the limp, flaccid state in which one reflects. By this time WWII is raging and the remaining characters are either rendered powerless or spent.

Book Review: The Book, I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak, is about a young man who thinks of himself as a local deadbeat, until he realizes that he can choose to make his life much more meaningful. Ed Kennedy, an under aged cab driver who lives in an old shack and hasn’t accomplished much in his life, suddenly finds himself deciphering and fallowing the directions given to him on the back of ace cards, from a mysterious and an anonymous sender. The four Aces sent to him always had the addresses of places or houses that held people he was supposed to somehow help, even if it meant simply buying them an ice cream. As he makes his way through the cards, he learns more and more. With a little help from a mysterious sender, Ed Kennedy turns his life around and realizes his true purpose. This book was very fun and interesting to read. It was very different than most books I have read, which made me like it so much more. I think that anyone who reads this book with love the plot, characters, and the way the Author uses words and descriptions in this book. I highly recommend it.
