Wonderful! Very entertaining, a laugh a minute with a few tears! Love that it is a non-fiction book, that makes it easy to relate to. Makes me NOT want a dog anytime soon! :) Still haven't seen the movie, but the book was great!

This one just feels like an Oprah book. Not saying that's a bad thing, just that it fits neatly into that genre. It's like a tough workout -- you need to feel like you're a better person after you've read it, even if you didn't enjoy every minute.

Lots of the book was confusing to me. For example, there were several places where the reader is supposed to guess if A, B, or C is what happened. But that isn't clear from the text. So when it says that someone washed her A) pet guinea pig, B) truck, C) face, it took a while to figure out she didn't wash all of them. I guess what bothers me the most is that it wouldn't be that hard to put, "What did she wash?" just before the list. Or to add the word "either" as in "She washed either A) pet..." Not to mention putting the word "or" between choices B and C. Reading it aloud made me get sick of saying "Pinky Dinky Doo" so much. I wasn't particularly fond of the art. The story-within-a-story concept was tricky for my preschooler. So why did I rate this 2 stars instead of 1? Because of the wonderfully silly idea of wearing food on your feet when your shoes disappear! That is just the kind of silliness that I love. Too bad it wasn't done well enough that I'd want to read the book again.
