I'm almost embarrassed to admit, me and my four year old are big fans of Angel Cat Sugar (though we, for whatever reason, always refer to her as "Anger Sugar Cat")

Interesting story about two twin sisters and their tragic life event... comes to an interesting conclusion. I enjoyed like her other books that I have read. Sandy also liked it.

First of the DLs finished for the year. This was a staff's pick from a old favorite bookstore of mine that has since closed. It's the story about two women one whose life is only partly written and one whose story is coming to a end. Takes place in Sweden, author is from New Zealand.

Love Earlene Fowler! I've read her Benni Harper series and they are like eating peanuts...never can get enough! Ms Fowler knows how to make her characters sound like someone you'd want to have lunch with but she outdid herselves with the characters in Love Mercy! I am smitten with this whole new group of wonderful characters. They are so real, wonderfully alive and well written with the faults and life issues that we all share. Get a cup of tea, a warm blanket and cozy up to this one!

This book has FANTASTIC info about the many reasons why sugar is the devil, but I found it to be a bit too wordy. My boyfriend read it and didn't think that it was too wordy, so it could, quite possibly, just be that I have a short attention span. It will definitely make you question why anyone would ever put a drop of sugar in their body and why the government would still allow this substance to be legal. Very interesting in that sense. Even if you don't choose to read this book, I HIGHLY recommend doing some research about sugar before you put another Little Debbie Swiss Cake Roll in your mouth.

As a Stephen King fan I can't believe I have gone this long without reading this book. What I Didn't Like: - It's longer than it really needs to be - The religious overtures started grating on me after 900 pages or so - The ending is anticlimactic What I Liked: - Even though there is a huge cast of characters, they are well-developed and the way all the stories coalesce is very well done - The good guys aren't all angels and the bad guys aren't completely evil - The plot is compelling enough to have me continue turning the pages - all 1141 of them! All told, I really liked it!

I havent finished this entire ordeal yet; however, I've found it so far - while possessing a wonderful anesthetic - a bit bizarre in content. I dig the whole "three books-in-one" thing...I guess sometimes, Mcsweeneys is a little too strange, even for me. I tried reading the book of Oulipo works, and while entertaining, the effect wore off after twenty or so pages. The poetry ordeal, I dig. Haven't picked up the Unwritten Fitzgerald piece yet. I'll give it this: it looks really cool on your shelf. I'll update this later.

This book tells the stories of several young people who, when they were unable to get the right treatment for their mental illnesses, ended up going to jail or prison instead. The crimes they committed were usually direct results of their untreated mental illnesses, and when they were treated as criminals and incarcerated, their mental illnesses became even more unmanageable. Apparently this is pretty common, and it shows how otherwise regular, happy families can easily find themselves in a nightmare when a loved one with mental illness isn't able to get treatment.
