While the writting was good and the story interesting I had moral trouble with the "other women" getting exactly what she wanted. Mind you the bride was no saint, but two wrong's don't make a right no matter what world you live in.

Miss Manners manages to be both humorous and informative as she tackles a whole range of etiquette problems from answering machines to 14-course meals. Seeing as it's the size of a dictionary - though much funnier! - it's best read piece by piece in spare moments.

I started reading this at work one day because I was bored out of my mind on my lunch break and it was sitting on the shelf for sale. It's definitely a teen read, and a very easy one. I liked the concept and thought it was rather original. It definitely gave me something to think about. It kept me interested and wanting to pick up the next book (which I had completely forgotten about until I saw this on here!)

This isn't typical of the type of book I would read, but I asked for it as a gift and upon receiving it kept it filed back with the rest of the "to read" pile. I'd heard too many mixed things about the book and decided I wanted to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. All I can/want to say is that the writing is unexpectedly good. No matter what I hear people say about the Southern cliche' or predictable characters I didn't find it like that at all. I was interested in the characters the entire time I was reading and I could sense every aspect of the places and people Sue Monk Kidd wrote about. The Secret Life of Bees is a keeper in my collection and one that I will revisit.
