I enjoyed this book. I had seen the movie, so I knew the story. Reading it made me grateful that we don't live in the south and also that my husband is not a criminal lawyer. If you like John Grisham, you'll like this book.

This lady is so cool, I just wish this were a historial fiction. I find straight biography a little dry. It isn't so interesting to read about what the author "thinks a day in Bess's childhood was probably like."

It's accessible and I'm sure JCO was very proud of her handling of race issues in a somewhat complex way. --Not complex enough to satisfy me, I guess, and I don't give her prose the adulation the book jacket seems to expect, either.

fun! jasper fforde is great - many amusing references to other books, movies, etc. this is the first in the nursery crime series, and it investigates the death of humpty dumpty. it read quickly, and i laughed a lot. good read!

I impulsively picked up Blood and Iron from the library, and it's more readable than I expected from the excerpt on the author's web site. I'm honestly bored of Arthurian/Celtic stuff, but this one is moderately interesting, at least in terms of suitable bedtime reading. Yes, I damn with faint praise.
