Another bookswap experience, this is the first in a series of books featuring Clare Cosi, who has just come back to New York to run her former mother-in-law's coffee house. I'm always somewhat suspicious of characters-who-appear-too-much-like-their-creators (along with the same initials, etc...). Naturally, for this is a crime book, her arrival is coincidental with one of the assistants falling down the stairs and seriously injuring herself - given that the victim is a dancer, and therefore should be quite light on her feet, was it an accident or something more sinister? Clare is determined to find out, with the assistance (or otherwise) of both an NYPD detective and her ex-husband. Which would all be fine, if a significant chunk of On What Grounds wasn't shoehorned exposition of information loosely about coffee - an infodump of enormous proportions. Once ignored, the story runs along much better, though I can't say I'm desperate to read the next in the series, which is Through the Grinder.

This is the third book of the trilogy to the Giver and Gathering Blue. I hear that Gathering Blue doesn't really continue the Giver, but the Messenger does. A very good read.

For being the last book of "The Hunger Games" series, it was good. This book shows a really strong and protective Katniss. Protective for her love ones. The Mockingjay is prepare and ready! "HAPPY HUNGER GAMES! AND MAY THE ODD BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!" When you finish, you will want more. I wanted it more. You'll love it.

After finishing the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, I was dying to read more Rick Riordan books. I picked up The Red Pyramid, which is based on Egyptian mythology. I really liked the book, but I wasn't as hooked as I was with the Percy books. This book follows Carter and Sadie, who are brother and sister and find themselfs amidst Egyptian gods. They never thought the gods would be alive, let alone meet them. But when their father summons a god, he lets more loose than he intended, and Carter and Sadie need to work together to make sure the world won't be destroyed in the process of saving their father. The setup in this book is great. Rick Riordan made it seem like he was simply typing out what the main characters were saying on a tape recording. His humor is great and I loved the writing in this book. I'm more of a fan of Carter's than I am of Sadie, but both are great characters. If you love Rick Riordan as much as I do, this is a must to pick up. Egyptian mythology isn't something I've read a lot about (this is my first book..) but I really liked it and I think this can be a great setup for the rest of the trilogy. My overall rating: 4/5 Simply because I love Rick Riordan's writing and I can't wait to read more about Carter and Sadie (now if my preorder will hurry up and arrive already..)! I put this in graphic-novel but it's more a picture book with short stories all of which are unique, strange and compelling. It's not for everyone but if you liked The Arrival, you'll surely enjoy this lovely book.

This book defined all my feelings about the world when I was 16 years old. There is no question why this book is a classic and remains so relevant to this day. This book should be required reading for every high school student. Having first read it in high school, and as I reread it through out the years I find myself more distant from those initial misanthropic feelings Holden Caulfield (the protagonist) describes, maybe the hormones have simmered down... who knows. Anyway, great book, it is still in my top ten!

A very interesting approach to presenting an argument. it's not as literary as it is visual. Lots of graphs, charts, and statistical data.

Ugh...from the first page the main character annoyed me. There's no way I'm finishing this one.
