I enjoyed both the graphics and the stories in this book. Most are from an Israeli perspective but the are universal enough that everyone can relate/enjoy.

Alan Moore's take on who Jack the Ripper really was. I thought it was extremely well written, and the amount of research he did is amazing. I thought the illustrations, done in an inky black by Eddie Campbell, complement the story well, but if you're looking for more typical comic book illustrations you will probably be disappointed. If you're interested in more of Eddie Campbell's work you can check out his series Bacchus ; he also recently put out a graphic novel titled The Fate of the Artist .

** spoiler alert ** Nostalgic read for me between book club selections. The edition I read was unabridged and contained 25 chapters versus the usual 20. It was interesting that "colored" was used when referring to an African American which definitely revealed the era during which this story was written.
