meet alma, one of the ornriest, nasty talking, most mean spirited women you will meet in a long time. alma hates everybody, even her husband and children, but doesn't know why people don't treat her right. journey with alma, threough a series of circumstances, that lead her to being befriended by a red hats ladies group, and to awakening her once frozen heart. somewhat predictable, but written with heart and humor by yet another of that marvelously talented wayan clan, this is a small book with a lot of love in it.

I just finished listening to this last night, so I haven’t actually put into practice any of the principles taught yet, but all of Dreyer’s explanations and the exercises he puts you through all make (and feel) sense. Dreyer’s narration is easy to follow, with a conversational tone, and the steps broken down into understandable parts. I was surprised at how intuitive the “lessons” were. This book is definitely something you’ll want to download onto some portable device, as one of the CDs actually coaches you through a run, which will be especially helpful at the beginning. I’m really anxious to get out there and chi run!

I really liked this book, a lot. It was written by an acquaintance of my husband, based on a computer game that they helped make. This is the first of the trilogy, and I think the strongest. The central theme of this first book (apart from colonizing a new planet) was peace and family and personal stability. These are themes that I find strike very close to home for me. Ok, full disclosure: I was crying for the last 10 pages of the book, and probably a good 5 minutes after that, too. Maybe I'm just a sap.

And what could be more funny than a zoo-full of animals all wearing underpants? I can't wait to share this with my storytime kids.

I learned all sorts of things about China that I didn't know before. Of course, I'd always heard of foot binding, but I had no idea it was so barbaric. Loved the story of the friendship of the 2 young girls, even though it had a bittersweet ending. We're so lucky to be living now!
