This was an amazingly creepy book. It was wonderful because it was intellectual and also scary at the same time, in a supernatural way that actually sort of seemed real. I'm not usually one for horror books or the supernatural, but I loved this one. I think it was because I am really into academia and this book encompassed that very well.

This was an amazingly told story - touching, edifying, emotional, mystical. I love that Alice Hoffman gave voices to women of ancient times, that such a story full of love, devotion, and spirit could also cause me to do research, and go looking for more. Thank goodness for the internet, where I was able to look up Masada and Moab and even the meaning of "CE" as it applies to dates/time. For most of the book, I was fully involved with the story, hearing the voice of character. Only at the end, in the final paragraphs did an awareness of this as a piece of fiction come back to me - causing me to wonder "how did she do it?" How did Hoffman (long one of my favorite authors) manage to put this story together. It's incredible.

part deux of the Tomato Rodriguez trilogy (as it says in the title) and I don't know, it's not my favorite. It's definitely not as frantic as the first or as moving as the last. It's not like Empire Stikes back at all. More like Rocky II. You need it in order to have you know, Rocky III.

I received this book as a first reades winner. I thought this book was written with a lot of humor and personality. Taylor Clark presented the most recent case studies on fear, pressure and stress along with interviews and stories relating to the case studies. I felt the subject matter was relateable and he provided tips for dealing with fear and anxiety that were actually useful. I have not read Taylor Clark's previous book but I will be reading "Starbucked" as soon as I can.
