I loved this book, as well. There's a phrase in there that frames the type of paradigm breakthrough that occurs about once per century -- the author describes what Boyd did with analysis of fighters as moving the world from "Copernican to Newtonian." I was stunned at how much Boyd achieved, and where he ultimately took his research, but at the cost of neglecting his family and potentially a little bit of his sanity as well. An amazing book, for sure.

2011 I listened to this book which was 28 hours long! It took me 3 wks to read it. It was riveting and held my interest. I wanted to save these folks from Hitler and the disaster that I knew awaited them. I rooted for them! I also learned about Hungary's situation with its Jews and how the war impacted them. I highly recommend this book as a work of historical fiction with lots of good research to add to the novel's story. How people learn, grow and adapt to difficult times during war. 2013 I just reread this book on my Kindle. It will be the discussion for one of my book clubs next month. The story moved me the second time I read this novel as much as when I had initially listened to it. I highly recommend this book!

Though it can occasionally seem a bit slow this novel is worth reading. It is something beautiful and heartbreaking. One wishes with every page to see the lovers reunited, knowing that their separate lives are great but together they could be perfect. There is so much sadness and joy as these characters travel from country to country, losing old friends and gaining new and learning to live life.

A great showdown at the end and some new plot lines, such a Matrim's gathering and training of men that can channel, make up for a slow, laboring start to Book #6.

I liked this book, but didn't love it. I found myself predicting the end about halfway through and kind of just waiting to get through it. That being said, I really enjoy Lauren Weisberger's style of writing and felt the ending didn't happen exactly as I predicted so overall I would recommmend this book and will pass it on to the usual suspects.
