A sort of cautionary tale about our dependence and abuse of water. For those of us who live in the desert, this book is very relevant. There is a bit of "magic" and it's an easy read, but not a terribly exciting one.

Just as good, if not better than his first book, "Mr. Clarinet". I could not put this thriller down. Miami in the cocaine 80's, Voodoo, Haitian (boat people) immigrants, and Max Mingus make for a potent story.

You know those times in your life when you feel sort of lost and you aren't sure of yourself. That's the perfect time to work throught the Artist's Way. I had just moved to a new city and started a new job. I joined a UU church and they were offering a 12 week class on the Artist's Way. I did not consider myself an artist but I signed up anyway. It was the 12 best weeks of that year. I learned so much about myself and the group was supportive and nuturing. A wonderful book about creating yourself as the person you want to be.

The story of the Shadow Unit continues in this third volume. Shadow Unit is a FBI procedural told in episodes like a TV show... with a paranormal twist. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit hunts the anomaly (humans who have been somehow altered). Most of this one is an on-going story about Chaz, one of the profilers. It is riveting and heartrending. It continues to be told in a mix of stories, journal entries and snippets of character development. This shared world gripping and well told.

this book makes me cry. the sentiment is so sweet... it's about a woman's journey to grieve the death of her husband and move on with her life. the writing style is cute - chatty and fun, and she often gets things exactly right, which is impressive being so young and this being her first book. my only complaint is the pace and content of the ending - it seemed somewhat abrupt and out of sync with the rest of the novel. good read, though :)

When Deanna's dad discovers her in the car with a boy, he dislikes Deanna ever since then. Thus, Deanna has a distant relationship with her family. On the topic of friends, jealousy describes Deanna and Lee's relationship the best. Deanna has a hard time facing Lee because she is secretly in love with her boyfriend. Overall, this book describes the friendship between the characters. Also, rumors take up another part of this story.
