Great if you are into cooking (especially Southern Food) and I am not. Lots about recipes and cooking. Not as much funny stuff.

This was a good book! It was a bit sappy, of course, but the story and characters were very interesting!

I used to love the Clique series, but after reading this book I honestly can't remember the reason. Here is my long lists of rants: 1. This coming from the person who types everything out fully on IM: when you type a word, do it right. I got so tired of the "Gawd", "ah-dorable", and "ehmygods" that filled this book. 2. It was only 120 pages and I didn't feel like there was really any plot or plot devolpment or anything. It was just very boring. 3. Massie comes off as such a spoiled rich kid I just wanted to throw the book against a wall. I mean, I get why her parents want her to get a summer job, but it wasn't even really a job. She was getting paid for telling people how ugly they looked and what make-up would make them look better. I guess you could say that you learned more about the character Massie and how she is away from the Pretty Commitee, but this book just didn't really cut it for me. I would recommend the Gossip Girl or It Girl series if you are looking for books about the life of spoiled rich kids.

Low self esteem can devastate your dreams. Regardless of your abilities, if you don't have faith in yourself, nothing you do will ever seem good enough. David Black, in 'Encouraging the Writer' by Serena Yates, suffers from a severe case of insecurity. He is constantly doubting himself and expecting others to do the same. He is miserable, but lacks the courage to change. He will not let anyone know how he feels and assumes that even if someone did know, no one would care. What David needs to help him overcome this obstacle is to find someone who loves him, recognizes his worth and encourages him to have more faith in himself. I liked David, but have to admit I felt a certain amount of frustration with him for putting himself down all the time. I never gave up on him though. Instead of being secure, his true self was obscured by a constant cloud of self doubt. As often happens with people lacking in self confidence, he underestimated himself constantly and had difficulty making decisions on almost everything. Finally, with the right kind of encouragement from his lover, Torin, David began to see himself as others saw him and started to react appropriately. It was gratifying to watch David evolve from the wallflower he was in the beginning, into the self assured person he became. When his self confidence bloomed, he was unstoppable. Torin Macpatrick is a talented theatre director, successful, but he was still looking for something more meaningful. When he and David meet, Torin wastes no time in pursuing him. Torin's love and nurturing bring David out of his shell; he finally begins to realize that he isn't the boring, untalented klutz he'd always assumed himself to be. “Ain't love grand?” 'Encouraging the Writer' is a charming story of how love can change everything. I loved the characters who endeared themselves to me. Serena took extra care creating a couple who meshed together extremely well--David being unassertive and introverted and Torin, secure and outgoing. David needed to be encouraged to write and Torin just happened to need a writer. Between the two, they made an invincible pair. Their romance intensifies in record speed, but when it's right, why waste time? David and Torin's lovemaking is exceedingly sensual and intense, leaving little doubt that these men are meant for each other. ‘Encouraging the Writer' is the third book of the New Horizons series and may be read independently. However, to get the most enjoyment out of the story, it's best to read book one: 'Rescuing the Librarian' and book two: 'Discovering the Actor', all of which are equally enjoyable. NOTE: This book was provided by Total-E-Bound for the purpose of a review on Queer Magazine Online

A refreshing look at politics and the beltway of Washington D.C. by the Senator from the State of Illinois. No matter what your political leanings are I think you will take some good away after reading this book.

This was one of the very rare books that I never finished... just about when the main character was holding her hand on a hot iron for fun, I chucked it across the room. Ridden with run-on sentences that drove me nuts!

Sigh. I think I wanted more from this book, but i can understand why we got what we got. I won't spoil things for anyone, so I'll just say that this is very much a YA book with YA characters who behave accordingly. Am looking forward to book 3, and, perhaps, a resolution.

Most of the various characters were well drawn and the way the story moved back and forth in time kept it interesting. My major issue with the book -- preventing it from getting more stars -- is that some of the stuff that happens seems out of left field there is no buildup for it in the character as you have learned about him. This was especially true of events at the end of the book.
