Loved this book! It's rated as teen fiction, but I couldn't put it down. The world of vampires is unlike any other that I've read and the plot moves quickly, even with the teen angst angle thrown in. The main character is likable and not a Bella Swan copy-cat. The characters are at times annoying but mostly they strike me as grown beyond their years. Not just a teen book =)

I read this with my work book club... I would not recommend it. It seemed to drag on and on, and I didn't like many of the characters. The best part of the book was the last 100 or so pages, so that was a lot of reading to get to something good. Most others in the club were indifferent. No one planned to recommend it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that it did spark some interesting conversation.

One thing I really enjoy about these books is the fact that J.R. Ward is into STD's and birth control. It makes it feel more real. I wonder with other romance novels, "how come they don't get pregnant?" I also like how they overlap when they transfer between people, so you don't miss anything. I did feel this one was not as good as the first in the series.

I have always loved this book, from when I first read it in tenth grade to now. Holden's voice is true and real, and in the end, the story's depth--and shallowness--reminds me of the way real people are.

My god, this was a good book. I can't wait to read the others. While it's not the best ever, it was a very engaging, complex book with believable characters. It was creepy and not too gory.

The Ingalls family is now living in the small town of De Smet where there are about 80 other people living. An Indian comes to town and predicts that it is going to be about 7 months of a hard Winter. The first blizzard starts in October takes them into a very fierce winter that lasts until April. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book because I don't really care for Winter but I did find it enjoyable to see how the early settlers had to be fighters to survive. The train couldn't make it to their town to bring supplies so when they ran out of kerosene and wood for light and heat they burned hay. Someone had to be constantly getting the hay ready to burn which was an all-day job and then watching the fire so they wouldn't freeze to death. When their food supply got down to only wheat someone had to constantly be grinding the wheat to make flour for bread. They weren't able to keep their spirits up all of the time. Angelic Caroline snapped at Charles at one point. But when Spring finally came it felt so relieving to know that they made it. The simple things became so wonderful. Their joy for a simple thing like butter was expressed when they finally had some.

Great, fun, fast read. Once the Hunger Games begin, you will be unable to do anything other than finish the book. I read this so quickly I didn't even have time to add it to my "currently reading" list.

I love Iain M Banks (though not Iain Banks, which is odd) and love this book. I love the interplay between the Minds and the expansive explanations of some of the culture of 'The Culture' which is great if you've read other Culture set books of his. Like most of his books, there are times when I literally lose the plot, and trying to remember who's who can be taxing.
