Lots of people reviewed this book and said that King has lost his touch. Not true if you ask me. King at his best...he only gets better with age. Not one of his more horrific. Loved It!

Lover Revealed is a part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. The plot lines are riveting, the continuity with the rest of the series flawless, and the characters are complex and interesting. I enjoy this series. I can hardly put the books down while I'm reading them; they are engrossing. This book's main couple is Butch, a former cop, and Marissa, who is a member of the wealthy, ruling class of their community. Every book interweaves several subplots while focusing on a main couple and their lives. I recommend this book to all who enjoy Vampire fiction, and romance. I suggest the reader be at least more mature sixteen or seventeen years old because of adult subject matter (sex and violence).

Kickstarting my New Year's resolution to read more non-fiction, I decided to begin with a memoir. Burroughs story is not for the faint of heart-it is often shocking, sometimes funny, and occasionally heartbreaking. Yet this book is not a scandalous tell all, but a memoir handled with extreme honesty and grace, and for all those willing to accompany the author on his strange ride, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Burroughs has risen above the squalor, neglect, and deception that characterized his upbringing, and the existence of Running with Scissors is s testament to his achievement. My only critique of the book would be the unexpected jumps in the plot and time that take place between chapters. However, this disjointed narrative may be intended to recreate for the reader the constant feeling of instability that Burroughs no doubt experienced.

A cute, accessible, and not at all prurient illustrated compendium of first-time stories. The stories are diverse -- the coauthors interviewed people from eighteen to eighty, from all walks of life -- and the illustration style differs from story to story to play up the special features of each one. Very human, but in an encapsulated way; most stories are just a page or two, and I thought many of them would have benefited from a few pages of context or fallout. This would have helped differentiate stories that were often otherwise very similar. My favorite stories were the standouts -- Mrs. X, Logan, Ellen, Vic, and especially Kaye come to mind -- but some of the more generic "teenage fumbling" stories might have been standouts too if we'd known what led to them, or what came after. My other gripe is more personal, which is that with the exception of a couple women who saved themselves for marriage,everyone is depicted as losing their virginity by age twenty. That's not so bad by itself -- most people do, after all -- but it's compounded by the fact that they inserted one one-page panel about a thirty-five-year-old comic book store employee for the sole purpose of mocking him for being a virgin. I have a problem with that. He has a story too, I bet, and it deserves to be told no less than the stories of people who have been deflowered.
