Pretty tough to get into but really fascinating and terrifying once I wrapped my brain around it. A good education about the powerful world running our economy and a close-up look of how it failed. With such huge ramifications, I believe everyone should be educated on what happened and why.

For the most part I quite enjoyed the various short stories in this collection. They were interesting, different and even humourous. I did find the last couple a bit more of a chore, but still found them very interesting. I found the essay a good overview of what the Culture is all about.. anything and everything. A very good introduction to Iain Banks' unique writing style.

A modern retelling of Henry James' "Turn of the Screw" but unlike James' haunting, beautifully written tale, we now have a silly ghost story that revolves around characters one would find from "Sex in the City". It kept me up at night reading, however, but by page 250, I was tired of the tale, characters, and ghosts. It includes some strong cuss words as well as a steamy scene and some conversations.

I read a quote by Richard Yates saying "If my work has a theme, I suspect it is a simple one: that most human beings are inescapably alone, and therein lies their tragedy" and I think that definitely applies to Revolutionary Road. This book is troubling and saddening but yet worth the read. I didn't "like" any of the characters- they're all a bit disturbing- but yet they broke my heart. Their situations and actions made me angry at times but I couldn't help feel sorry for them. Definitely not a light read but I'm glad I took the time.
