This was beautifully, beautifully done, enough that I'm going to search out the others in the series, in order. And that never happens. I also really appreciated that the hero's name was Summerhays, and not, say, Darkmoor or Ravenscroft or Lord knows what other silly brooding thing.

I adored Mistwood! Absolutely, completely, fell in love with that book, so I had very high expectations for Nightspell. It took me ages to actually get my hands on a copy, but when I finally did it when to the top of my reading pile. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed it, this never really lived up to Mistwood. I am not even quite sure why, but it just never clicked with me. The multiple narrators was both a good and bad thing. It allowed for various viewpoints into the story and setting, but it felt like it broke up the natural flow of the story. Whenever it seemed like I was beginning to connect with one of the characters, the point-of-view would change. Darri and Callie’s relationship was probably my favorite element of the story. I loved the exploration of the changing dynamic between the two of them. The only other character with whom I felt any real connection was Kestin. Although I feel like his potential for the story was never fully realized. Clarisse is the only character that makes the jump from Mistwood to Nightspell, and she remains devious and cunning. The story and plot were chalk full of potential. Just read the summary and you will realize that. Unfortunately it feels like much of that potential is lost. There are some truly brilliant moments in the story. There’s a huge plot twist that I absolutely adored. I did see it coming, so I was not shocked by it, but I loved the way the author handled it. I also liked the parts between Kestin and Clarisse and the scenes between Kestin and Darri. Overall Nightspell was an interesting, nice little fantasy, but it never succeeded in realizing its full potential. If you are looking for a good fantasy to read, I would definitely recommend Mistwood over Nightspell. This was worth the read, but not something I will probably read again. I will be looking forward to see what the author does next though.

Kingkiller Chronicles: Day Two has been long awaited and is well worth the wait. At nearly 1000 pages, it is a story you won't want to put down and don't want to see end. It's an epic on the scale of Wheel of Time without all the extra (remarkable, yet dry) details and skirt smoothing; it's as adventurous as The Hobbit without the dwarves; and, in my opinion, is destined to live among the literary ranks with other legendary sagas. As soon as I finished reading the tome (what else are you gonna call 900+ pages in hardcover?), I was tempted to return to Day One, The Name of the Wind, and begin the adventure all over again. At times I found the story almost academic fantasy and at other times full to the brim with adventure. I even found myself holding my breath during some daring deeds. Patrick Rothfuss' second novel is something truly amazing. If you are a fan of the genre, I suggest no passing up this series or waiting for it to conclude before beginning to read the series. If you love epics, it is especially suggested to jump on this bandwagon (Edema Ruh wagon?) and join in the raucous singing. Now please excuse me, I have the sudden urge to go find my violin and begin practicing again.

Ok...So here come my review: The cover is beautiful. The first couple of pages really made me curious about knowing about this type of world. Everything is computers and automated and people have fake trees and grass. The book has TONS of errors, and maybe I just had a bad copy but it was all over the place w/ extra spaces and what not. With the story, the problem is I never full connected w/ the main character and I thought her love interest was dreamy, because every time she saw him it was the most amazing connection EVERRRR. I felt like the author was trying a bit too hard to make me like her love interest and it didn't happen gradually... it was like instant love, which works in some cases, but in this instance it didn't seem to work. But then, when she got to know more about him, he was really preachy and I was confused because all she knows is that he is so dreamy, and he makes her feel alive, but then he's a jerk too. So, for a good majority of the first part of the book, I'm confused as to if I really care if they get together or not. The plot was a bit slow and I kept waiting for something exciting to happen... and it did, but I think it took way too long to finally get there...I'm talking like 20 chapters in. The last chapters were page turners, so I give the book that-- and I do get their love now, but do I really care what happens next? Meh... maybe?

Amazing novel. Tells the story of twins joined at the head, written in the form of autobiography. Rose tells most of the story, with her sister Ruby writing some chapters. It felt so real that I had to keep reminding myself that the twins are fictional. The first page of the book will really grab you, then you won't be able to put it down!
