Several books about the elite Navy SEALs have been released since the killing of Bin Laden, but this book wasn't one of those rushed to print to capitalize on those headlines. This book tells the personal story of one of the SEAL Team Six members, Howard Wasdin. Some readers may not like everything about Wasdin, but that doesn't seem to be the purpose of the book. He's not running for office. This book is his story, and provides insights into what it's like to become and serve as a member of the Navy SEALs. You really have to marvel at the dedication and the never-quit, never-say-die attitude of the men who make up these elite fighting teams. The description of his time in Somalia is an excellent description of how difficult the job of the military is in these wartime experiences. At times, the book reads as if it's a recitation of his personal diary rather than a polished professionally written novel, but the style works and keeps you engaged.

One of the best novels I've ever read. I re-read it once a year. Drop everything and read it!

Amazing writing. I didn't want to read this because of the subject matter, but so glad I did. The perspective is consuming. What an achievement.

Not sure it had me as involved as previous books. Still a decent read though.

An interesting collection of biographies of folks who have some sort of obsession. Hit and miss really, some chapters made me research the person, some I didnt finish.

I am very disappointed. I can no longer say I always enjoy reading Lora Leigh. I am definately going to be leary about the next book in this series but I will persevere. I am hoping to get a few answers. I don't think I've ever read a book that was left dangling so much! Maybe this is one of those series that needed to be published one right after the other in very quick succession. It almost seems as though the deadline came and it was just submitted "as is". I think quality is more important than quantity. If the quality is awful I won't buy the books. This was definately a big let down. There was way too much repeating of what we already knew and hardly any new information as the book went on and on. The cousins could have been mutes for all that they contributed. I am hoping it is just a fluke on her part because the talent is there. I want the old Lora Leigh writing back. I really love her as an author and I know that every single book can't be fantastic but this won fell quite far from her usual.

I know, I know-- it won a Pulitzer and all that jazz. But good lord, how many bad things can happen to one person? It was just way too depressing (and I enjoy depressing books). And the epistolary style didn't work for me either.

It's long. Some lines make it worth it though, but I have to say that that first 1/2 isn't too thrilling. I feel like there are points when I wanted to say: "Charles, was this part REALLY necessary?"

Romance. Sophie and Amy Dempsey were only supposed to be in Temptation for a couple days, hired to shoot a short film, but that was before half the town got involved and their short film took a sharp left into porn territory. Now they've got the city council and the mayor on their backs and the mayor's got Sophie on hers. There's also a murder. I've read this twice now and it has one of my favorite Crusie lines of all time in it: "Sophie, your soul is a corkscrew." Crusie writes some of the best published mainstream (watch me qualify!) sex scenes I've ever read. They're hot, unflowery, sometimes awkward, and are always true to her characters. In short, they're fun and have a point. I liked this book less my second time through, but that really only means it got demoted from favorite Crusie book to, like, second-favorite, Faking It having recently been bumped up to fill that position. Five stars -- good fiction with a chewy, romantic center. Will read it again, I'm sure.
