This is the first Pynchon I read (and the only one I completed). I loved it so much I thought, "The rest of his books must be fantastic! And longer!" I can only vouch for the latter.

I don't like siblings fighting, they do a lot of that in this book.

Review: From the beginning this last installment of the Harry Potter series, author JK Rowling hits the ground running. This book does not pander about giving information that the reader should already be well acquainted with. Rowling begins at the end of the sixth year of Hogwarts, shortly after Dumbledore’s funeral, with the plan he set for Harry, Ron and Hermione, to destroy the balance of the horcruxes that tied Lord Voldemort to life, and threatened the wizarding universe. It is a fast paced for the most part, dragging a bit during their search in the wilderness while looking for clues about the existence of these horcruxes. It is the perfect conclusion to this series, well written, fast paced, and entertaining. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I agree with my brother's review. This is not chick lit - it's a moving, deeply felt romance. You definitely grow to understand the characters and can even believe the central conceit (that of time travel). This story stayed with me long after I had finished the book.

We all know Peanuts, but only a small percent know how it all began. This first book of the complete anthology isn't really the beginning, because it all started with one-panel strips called Lil' Folks, which is collected in an equally fascinating anthology. I highly recommend the Lil' Folks anthology, but you can only order it from the Charles Schulz Museum. Anyway, back to this book. To see Charlie Brown and Snoopy from 1950 is like seeing the birth of strip cartooning. Schulz had a lot to say about isolation, angst, gender roles, and respect. While latter day Peanuts touched on these themes, Schulz did so while on auto-pilot and we didn't question his watered down cliches because the comic strip had always been there for us. It was like laughing at a joke that we never understood why it was funny. What's collected in this volume is a concentrated wealth of ideas and variations of characters that we never knew existed (Lucy was once a doe-eyed baby, Snoopy doesn't really belong to anybody, and who the fuck is Shermy?)
This is my favourite Allende novel. Read it twice...the first tiem I was very young and didn't remember much ...really enjoyed the main characters and the mystecism mixed in with a good plot and an interesting political and historical time period.
