This is Christian fiction, and as such, there were some spots that the Christian message over powered the story line, but not so much that I didn't enjoy it. I loved the insight into that period of history.

Overall I was disappointed with this book. It had such a promising start with characters that seemed so new and original but then it fell into a familiar depressing mold. David and Norah's story seemed to take a sharp turn into the over done and tired while Caroline's became something of a cake walk where pretty much everything she wanted happened and there were absolutely no obstacles in her way. I found the ending the most disappointing though - Norah and Paul's "shock" at finding Phoebe alive was almost laughable. It would have been nice to see a story where Norah and Paul did not follow the norm and become guilt and grief ridden individuals like they should have and where Caroline did end up with everything she wanted just for doing the right thing. It made for a very predictable story. Also I found a striking similarity to theme of The Lovely Bones in here.

This book was good but with some slow parts in the middle and I would actually rate it a 3.5, not a 3. I just wasn't happy at the end. Good story though of life and suffering and sadness.

I really wanted to like this one, but I felt like it was lots of style but even more cliché. Not entirely comfortable with how the sexual assault was handled either. Also for being two sides of the same story, why did it basically sound like one big story, just hearing two POVs that basically supported the same facts? One twin said Keeley was different depending; Keeley seemed pretty much the same to me regardless. God, if you're going to use this style at least give me some unreliable narration or twisted understanding of events. (read: 94)
