An excellent book which delves into the topic of how children can influence one another. It is a highly entertaining book which gives a great insight into peer pressure and how children can be convinced to do terrible things by others in their school or area. Tulip is a deeply disturbed child and her home circumstances have seriously damaged her. Her idea of fun is to create havoc for everyone else around her. Her unfortunate friend, Natalie, is ropped into Tulip's dangerous activities. Bullying, peer pressure and the pressure of having friends are explored in this book. Anne Fine has explored these common problems with children in this novel and has done so beautifully.

This is a zany retelling of Chicken Little, with lots of manic eyeballs and bonking on the head. The bright, big illustrations make this a good option for group sharing. The ending has a twist. If you've ever done a storytime with Big Sneezes at the end of the books (I did, but I can't find this list now), add this one on. Everyone loves a big group sneeze.

While enjoyed the book while I was reading it. It did not hold my interest to the point I felt compelled to read. (although I was compelled by the fact that I had to finish in time for my book group.)Ultimately I would consider it a decent summer read and no more than that.

I can't remember what made me pick up this book -- it must have been that edition's cover, which was highly gorgeous: bright bright white with big red geisha lips. I think part of me wanted to be above this kind of thing, but you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed it. Memoirs of a Geisha was a fairytale in novel form, and completely absorbing even when it got slightly ridiculous. It's one of those chocolate cake kind of books, descriptively rich, demanding your full attention
