I would have rated this higher - I really liked the beginning. I know the prophets are human and everything, I just didn't like seeing both Abraham & Isaac near the end as crotchety old men. ha ha Somehow, I just think prophets should get better with age...! :) I'm trying to decide if I want to read the other two books in the trilogy... yeah, I probably will.

Okay so while this is well below my current reading level, there is something to be said for childrens/young adult classics. I remember this being a very powerful and touching story and that was when i read the book in grade school. Following the adventures of a young boy and his two friends, a pair of hunting dogs and the deep bond that is developed between them.

Historical fiction book about a family in the town of Cripple Creek, Colorado in the late 1800's. Based on the author's own grandfather's experiences, a mining accident leaves the father without his leg. This effects the family, which consists of Mom, Dad, and one daughter. The daughter, Mary, helps Dad to see that his "reminders," small handcrafted wooden renderings of people he knows, are valuable treasures. He learns he can be more than a miner. This would be a great book for kids who have parents that have suffered injuries, such as parents that come back injured from war or that receive an injury on the job. You see a small glimpse of the father's pain through the way he interacts differently with his family as he tries to adjust to life without his leg.

This book is an easy read but very entertaining. It details how students from M.I.T. figured out, with the help of a rusty old mathmetician, how to beat the game of blackjack and take Vegas for millions. Unfortunately, my book was in my backpack, which was stolen out of our rental car by some little pieces of $%^#, therefore I don't know how it ends.

A much better read than the Davinci Code. I liked imagining myself in Rome and following the clues through the city. The ending is a little unrealistic and bizarre, but that's why it's called "fiction".
