Bob Dylan seeks fame, then complains about being too famous. Lovely prose-style, though, and overall pretty entertaining.

Probably the worst book I've ever read. If you like it, you're a moron & I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do for you.

Tough to get emotionally involved (for me), but a sharply intelligent book with lots of interesting things to discuss if you are interested in postcolonial literature. The stuff of English syllabi.

It's a book that at the end you "know" what happened, but don't "know" what happened. It has a law component that drew me in. It was really quite short and pretty easy to read. Enjoyable!!

I loved this book. Its a dark, intense, rich read. Dostoyevsky crafts such complex, interesting characters and delves deep into their thoughts. Raskolnikov is a prideful, cynical man who commits a coldhearted murder, but he is also innately generous and idealistic--although an unlikely hero, you find yourself rooting for him.

I had a russian author phase that lasted, er, five minutes. This book is good, though.

This was a really hard one for me to read. I had put it on my to read list ages ago, and it sort of fell into my lap at the library . I had forgotten what it was about, but remembered the name and that it was on my list, so I grabbed it without reading the cover because I was in a hurry. When I started reading it I remembered why I had put it off. It hits very close to home for anyone with close personal experience with alzheimer's. For some reason I stuck with it. Maybe I felt like I had to prove something to myself, and the fact that it also has a compelling storyline, and is extremely well written helped. This is a murder mystery wrapped in a portrait of disease. And I felt that the author portrayed the reality of the disease accurately and respectfully. It was painful to me to read because of the truth of so many scenes . A good book, written well, from a very different perspective . And for me personally, another step forward in personal growth ( I hope :)

I haven't been this taken by a book in a long time, and am glad someone has given us westerners a different perspective on the middle east than CNN chooses to broadcast. Emotional turmoil and twisted war games, family secrets and caste systems... it's got it all.

I found the writer's bouts of self-aggrandisement in this book irritating, and found myself wondering what the rock stars that he liked to associate himself with honestly thought of him. To summarise, kid gets into drugs, meets rock stars, takes more drugs, goes downhill, meets more rock stars, takes more drugs, nearly dies, cleans up his act, finds a sympathetic publisher. I did enjoy the sections that documented the excesses of Iggy Pop in the 70s though (hence the three stars).

3.5 yıldız verirdim. Bazı ilginç fikirler ve bazı harika hikayeler vardı, ama ne yazık ki antoloji için çoğu sadece iyi. Bir bütün olarak, beni yakalamadı.
