Sad. That's all I can think of at the end of Narnia. Sad. It should be bittersweet, but I think I just feel sad. Admittedly the parallel between the end of Narnia and the predictions about the end of our own world are astounding, I have to give C. S. Lewis serious props for that, and for making the end sound like a beautiful beginning. I seriously can't believe he wasn't LDS, the way that he talks about the afterlife. Anyway, although sad the book was beautiful and in true Narnian style. Love!

Like Pinter, Chekhov really understood people, but he seemed to love them a lot more. Often mistaken for a 'realist' or 'naturalist' of the theatre, Chekhov was in a fact a hyper-realist. His plays are not mundane kitchen sink dramas, but bold, impressionist, dream-realities, within which some of the most lovingly crafted (and often hopelessly lost) characters drift and struggle to understand themselves and others. As always, I recommend these plays to anyone, not just those who have an interest in theatre. But I'd also recommend you to see them performed, if you can. His fiction was also wonderful, so check that out if you have a low tolerance for scripts.

A really really valuable book. I'm afraid I'm a bit jaded about gardening books, having consumed so many over the years. There aren't very many that still hold my interest or contain new information for me. This one is an exception due to the author's innovative Passionate Garden Planning exercises. I return to these checklists again and again, discovering new or changing priorities each time.

TBR 352 It is sad that this is the last book Jennifer Rardin wrote, because she creates a world with rich details and swirling emotions Jaz has a strong 'kick-ass' attitude and her lover Vayl is deeply committed to her I have not read all the books in this series and several key points in this story meant nothing to me but I still found enough to enjoy this book (view spoiler)

Despite being written by an apostate, it is not entirely worthless. Here is why it is annoying, though: Ehrman starts explaining concepts which NT studies have known for 30 years, yet he is acting like he just discovered them and that they are really dangerous to Christianity (they aren't). Further, he really does believe, or so how he writes, that anyone who disagrees with him is a total moron who thinks the Left Behind novels are real (he comes very close to saying that). While Ehrman is correct to note the apocalyptic context, he seems adamant that the phrase "end of the world" means "end of the space time continuum." He is not familiar, being a modernist, with the echoes to OT texts that speak of judgment on Jerusalem. He continues to cling to out-dated modernist scholarship Despite all of that, it is an easy read and he does touch upon the basics which we've already known (but bless his heart, he probably does think he discovered them).

I hated to leave huge hardback "Drood" but I needed something to read for my trip. I like the vampire organization and characteristics. Eric is a very interesting character. She is very easy to read and entertaining. I think she is a very girlie writer and it cracks me up. I like the books more than the show altho at their heart the books feel more romance novelish than anything else and I'm not too keen on romance novels.

Anyone with an interest in history and politics should read Machiavelli, who was one of the first people to write about the world as it really is, not as it should be. So far I've read The Prince twice, but got about halfway into The Discourses on the First Ten Books of Titus Livy. It has said that The Price was about monarchies and The Discourses was about republics, and from what I have read would have to agree. I have done other reading about him and his time and would like to read the rest of his works.
