It it refreshing to know that there is hope in this young, and ,mostly unbiased, gentleman. Barack is a much needed breathe of fresh air in this time of lies, deceit, anger and greed that is blinding our politicians. Reading this book has reminded me that there are still good people who might be able to make a difference in our country and possibly begin to undo the damage that has been caused because of Americas love of warfare.

Buku yang indah. Walaupun mungkin temanya tentang konflik gereja dan kerajaan, tapi saya sangat suka dengan tokoh Jack dalam buku ini. Saya sangat tersentuh dengan cara pengarang mendeskripsikan bagaimana orang harus punya harapan agar survive untuk terus bertahan hidup. Seperti tokoh Tom yang selalu yakin bisa dapat pekerjaan walaupun saat itu sedang masa sulit. Bagaimana Ellen dan Jack yang hidup dengan cara Gipsy. Yang pasti, buku ini indah dari awal sampai akhir.

I'm a little ambivalent about this book. Reading it was kind of like being inside Elizabeth Gilbert's head, and I wasn't always sure it was a place I wanted to be. She annoyed me at the beginning of the book by being way too much like every spazzy 40something divorcee Diane Lane has ever played (that might have been a conscious style choice, but it still bugged the crap out of me), and then she annoyed me at the end by (spoiler alert!) allowing herself to slip so easily back into her old pattern of relying on a man for happiness. (I'm not sure what I thought the "love" section of the book was going to entail, exactly, but I couldn't help but feel that the easy ending kind of tarnished her whole spiritual journey, in spite of her assertions that she really had changed.) I liked all the stuff in between, though, so all in all it wasn't a bad read.

My enjoyment of this book may have been affected by the fact that I was reading it for school and knew that I was going to have to write an essay about it. But overall I did really enjoy this book, which surprised me because at first I was hesitant to pick it up and only started reading it because my friend had it and it was the only convenient book for me to read at the time. There is a lot of sex in this book, but quite quickly I got used to it and the parts in between where there is a lot of philosophy and what I found to be an interesting analysis of life. I liked the way that the characters were all interconnected in someways without it seeming unbelievable. The book is written in language that is not difficult to understand at all. I learned quite a bit from this book with regards to philosophy and a little about the history of Prague during that time period.

I've seen this book being recommended for quite some time, but I didn't really have a big desire to read it. I finally gave in to all the hype and I have to say it didn't let me down. I actually couldn't put it down. It seems like your typical "spoiled rich girl falls for dangerous bad boy" story, but the twists thrown in really make it something different. I liked that the chapters alternated between Brittany and Alex, so we got to see each of their lives and how they help each other break down the walls they've put up. It's been awhile since I've read a book that I became completely engrossed in, this was a nice surprise.
