Love, love, love, LOVE, lovelovelovelovelove, LOVED it! Can't say it too many times. Super cute, super creative, and the writing was very inventive. It's a quick read, but it's one of those that's great for young and old. It's about a boy who, among his other, very amiable qualities, was a thief.

i read the book not the audio cassette...but it was excellent. creepy, disturbing, but excellently written - nabokov brings you into the world of narrator, so much so that you can almost, ALMOST understand him; making the revulsion you automatically feel for the subject matter so much the worse. great book.

Easy read with an interesting story. Very quick read. Characters in the book are easy to like and hate. The plot is a coming of age story of a boy from Louisiana. Not a lot to learn or think about in the book, but kept my attention. A friend of mine actually met Ken Wells in the New Jersey transit train where he gave her a copy of this book which she passed to me after she read it.

The second in the series has more to offer than the first. The very first part of this novel - a novella on its own - made the book for me. It is a well conceived tragic love story that also fits within the wider arc of intrigue through this novel and the series. I was impressed, and encouraged to carry on. Sick in bed, I ripped through this book in a day. For the fantasy genre, I look for something like this. A really good start, and enough interest to keep me going. I couldn't put it down. I also think that the ideas presented in this book stand well above the plot (which as in the first book I was not very impressed by), are well conceived, and presented. The philosophizing gets a little thick here and there, but I was reading fast enough that my momentum carried me past them.
