** spoiler alert ** It took a long time to get into the book. Based on the language (some victorian English and Latin)and the types of characters I am not sure that kids would get this book. Two of the main characters are a vampire and a werewolf. Gaiman does not come right out and say this; the reader must surmise it from the given clues. The plot of the book is very vague and too mysterious in the beginning. It feels like random events that don't really come together until the last few chapters (which I found to be the best ones). This book would be good for kids who are into the darker supernatural elements already.

This book was very good. Ryan had to go through a lot of persecution because he had aids. Ryan went to churches and they neglected him. Shows how cruel people can be even if they are suppose holy. Ryan died at a very young age. When he did many people attended his funeral including his close friend Elton John, but not to close.

Compelling enough to finish, but not the greatest thing I have ever read.

A book of therapy vignettes...I think even non-psychologists would like it! Yalom is a gifted writer.

What’s a secret don’t really stay a secret once people find out. Well a girl in the book Secret Society finds that out in this book. This book ad a lot going on like lies being told, secrets about sex and the drama is crazy. Some girls named Celess and Tina would tell lies left and right. They would tell men that they were woman when they are really men. The two girls (men) would also lie about what they do for a living and anything else they can lie about. They had so many secrets that people didn’t really no what to believe. Celess and Tina would have sex with other men but the way they would have sex he men wouldn’t never know nothing. They would be only ones to know. The drama would be very crazy. After awhile one of the men end up finding out there secret. He had stop messing with Celess and told his friend who messed with Tina. The guy who was messing with Tina ends up going to jail then he got out and shot both of the girls. Tina ends up dieing. When people find out about your secrets you don’t know what they would do. I really enjoyed reading the book. The lies were crazy. The sex was out of control and the drama was undefined. Pick up Secret Society you will like it.

1968 Caldecott Medal Winner Not sure how these illustrations are done. Ink and some kind of paint? Oh well. They have a creative, stained glass effect. Hubby saw the book and said "pretty pictures!" A cumulative rhyme in which various members of an army(?) follow their chain of command for the process of loading a cannon. When the rhyme is complete, we indeed get to see Drummer Hoff firing it off. I like it that another reviewer pointed out that the final image is hippie-esque with the obsolete cannon covered in plants, birds and bugs. I hadn't made that connection to the era of the book, but now that I do it's kind of cool and funny.

If there were half stars, I would give this book 2.5. I enjoyed it, in the way I enjoy the occasional mini-series on tv. Some of the plot twists were a little over the top, though I felt that the charachters were well developed and believable. Knowing little about farm life, I can't vouch for it's accuracy. It exposes the secrets that lie under the veneer of wholesome middle America, and how these secrets can inevitably ruin lives.

This book was okay. I didn't like how they shoved religion down the main character's throat. I felt that they were not normal people living their religion, but that they were making a point to show it at every point! I did like the love story

** spoiler alert ** typical VR book, which means I loved it. FOUR separate romances plus visits from/mentions of possibly every other friggin' character introduced, excluding Marcie/Ian. Dan is also a big part of this book & plays an important role in the end. I was very interested to read about him ever since I read the back blurb & the book lived up to my expectations. he also had some very funny lines. anyway. storylines: Abby/Cam - my favorite storyline. Cam is pretty much perfect and adorable and I love him. Abby was sort of insecure and annoying, but since she was not the most annoying character, I could live with it. hopefully in the next book they get married, which I am looking forward to reading. also, I want to know the babies' names!!! Liz/Rick - Rick frustrated the hell out of me, but then again I haven't had half my leg blown off, so I probably shouldn't judge. Liz has grown up a LOT since she was first introduced, and it was nice to see her stand up for herself when Rick was being a dumbass (often). Cheryl/Dan - really don't know why they're on the back cover; their romance wasn't a big part of the book at all, nor was it really a romance. they just ate lunch every week and Dan thinks she's hot. I don't remember if we even get Cheryl's POV in the book. maybe once. they'll probably get continued in the next book. Muriel/Walt - still really, really boring to me. it's like the same stuff happens every time they're together. also, I HATE MURIEL'S NAME. she's like fifty-six. not ninety-six. this may be why I hate them so much.
