This book is pretty darn funny. I think the title is self-explanatory. There are mini-bios of famous dictators scattered throughout the book.

Wonderfully written. Jeanne does an excellent job connecting all the threads involving Anna Sheridan, Mr. Morden, and Z'ha'dum. It shows that she really did her homework

I love the books but this was my least favorite. I felt like I was waiting for Edward to come back to me the whole time I was reading and at page 377 I was getting very pissed that he wasn't back yet.

Very quick read. This is a fun little sexfest. M/M/M/M, M/F, and M/M/M/M/F/M. Some seriously athletic sex feats and a M/F hea. Great fun for anyone who has daydreamed about their contractors. Just wish it was longer. I didn't feel as much connection and had trouble keeping all the guys names in order. Solid 3 stars for a short.

I never thought I would really care about bass tournament fishing, but for the past week or so I was so very involved in Carl Hiaasen's fictious bass tournaments that I almost thought I was a fisherman myself. Very typical of his other books, Hiaasen has a strange cast of characters and a story line that deals with some kind of environmental topic that involves the Florida Everglades. In this novel we meet R. J. Decker, a former newspaper photographer turned private detective, who has been hired to take photos of cheating in action during the fishing tournaments. He quickly aligns himself with Skink, a strange man who eats road kill and is a lot smarter than he lets people believe he is. With their lives on the line the two men, along with the few people they can trust, devise a plan to call out the cheaters and save their own lives in the process. With twists and turns around every corner, Carl Hiaasen kept me guessing as to the outcome of this farce.

You may never smell things the same way again! Fascinating, vivid, and dark... Well-written (translated from German) and very easy to read. Gives incredible life to the sense of smell. P.S. DON'T see the movie... it is pretty bad.

Just try to read this book without making comparisons to Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." No spoilers, but what you've really got here is a powerful contrast to the faith in social justice that Sinclair preached. He believed that communism was the inevitable answer to the horrible oppression of turn-of-the-century workers in the United States. In "White Tiger," you've got a protagonist (Balram) who is abused and oppressed in contemporary post-Gandhian India, where "social reform" is a term used for manipulation. Balram answers the question, "What would happen if a poor man shook off the real and imagined chains that held him, and decided to shape his own fate?" The genius of this book is in the handling of great moral questions. Adiga is meticulous in crafting the mixed morality of all of the characters, so that you're forced to face the issues without the benefit of defaulting to one "good" character you can believe in. I also found real value in this book for its honest debunking of India's pop-spirituality. India has always begged the question: "If we've got the answers to all the deepest questions, then why is this country so messed up?!" Adiga begins cutting through nonsense on page one and never stops, and the book is all the more vivid for it.

HEE-LAR-EE-OUS. Old-timey pictures meet extreme dry wit. Subject: pregnancy. Fun to discuss at cocktail parties and student council meetings.
