This is great! some parts can be a little trying... but i am drawn to the main character and her struggles, which may be frightening, oh well. Sylvia Plath is a wonderfully dark writer and it's just too bad that she ended things so young.

I should have read this AFTER we planned a trip to the Carribean. I'm packing mosquito repellant for sure now. This book was very well written and didn't bog you down with difficult scientific details. It read well and was interesting.

I cried at times, this was so moving. A boy in Malawi, who cannot afford school and whose family is starving to death from famine, teaches himself Physics to the point of allowing himself to build an electricity generating windmill. Over time this brings him attention which brings funding to lift him and his family from poverty and puts him on the road to be among the new generation of African entrepreneurs. Amazing.

Maybe I should say not finished. After a valiant fight of about 45 pages I had to put this down. Maybe it's just not my thing. I have to literally shelves of books waiting to be read, and so little time that I am starting to think some of them will wait for years, and I picked up this book because mostly of the reviews and because I like unusual style and what not, but no, this book was one of those. Definitely over advertised, I would say.

Entertaining and fun. Overall a good read, although not quite as informative as I thought it would be. However when the author went into history lessons (for example, on running shoes, or the evolutionary purposes of running) it was fascinating.

After reading this story, I find that a dog's life is not always a good one. Our narrator tells about the ups and downs of her life as a feral dog. Humans effect her life in both good and bad ways - some that were heart breaking, others redeeming. The story slows a bit in the middle, but has a heart warming ending.

Lots of fun. Nevada Barr is a former park ranger, and wrote a series of mysteries set in national parks. This one's set on Cumberland Island. Any of her books would be perfect for taking on a trip to a national park, obviously.
