I have never read a Stephen King novel, but I was eager to read his memoir on writing. King offers some insight into how he is so prolific-- starting with a daily quota of 2,000 words (about 10 pages) a day, no exceptions. My favorite passage is about the placement of his desk in his office. Initially, it was in the center of his office and now it sits off in a corner after he made room for his children to come in and play nearby. The significance? Writing should not be the center of your universe, living life should be the center of your universe. Finally, in addition to the dailiness of wriitng, King insists on something else: reading just as much as you write.

This book was the perfect hybrid of dystopia and mystery. There was just the right amount of suspense to keep me going. I literally had to keep reading because I needed to know what was going to happen. If you're looking for a page-turner, this is a novel I highly recommend. I've been on a dystopia kick this past year and of the many dystopia novels I've read, this one is definitely up there in terms of favorites. The plot is amazing and is always moving, the characters are versatile and fairly well devloped, and the setting is frickin' awesome. The characters and the Glade were definitely the best part of this book. Also, the mystery surrounding the whole plot keeps the book moving along nicely. I can't wait to read the sequel, The Scorch Trials, and the conclusion to the trilogy, The Death Cure, which is out next month. This is definitely one to pick up!

There were some interesting aspects to this novel. Some of the events seemed implausible--the almost agoraphobic woman bonding right away with the little Fresh Air girl from Harlem, the neighbor's taking the girl for the two weeks considering her attitude toward her own child, and the whole turnaround of the woman's life. I guess that I am just being too skeptical. It is a charming tale, and I wondered what would happen once Katanya went home. Now I know.

Review originally posted here: http://inthenextroom.blogspot.ca/2012... I absolutely adored the last two books I read by David Levithan (The Lover's Dictionary and Will Grayson, Will Grayson), so I was pretty excited to pick up his latest– a novel inspired by a set of haunting photographs taken my Jonathan Farmer and e-mailed to him one at a time as he wrote the book. The premise was also intriguing, but although I didn't dislike Every You, Every Me, I was disappointed I couldn't fall in love with it either. The use of strike out when writing is sometimes effective, I appreciated it in Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson for example, but I found it mostly distracting here. The writing is sparse but has an impact, and the book is a lot darker than anything I've read by Levithan before (for example, Boy Meets Boy) but feels genuine. Every You, Every Me takes on some important issues, though I won't be more specific to avoid spoiling it, and it does so with eloquence and authenticity. The novel itself is just as eerie as the cover would indicate. Every You, Every Me is filled with the kind of angst and emotional struggle I probably would have had more appreciation for if I'd been reading the book as a teen, instead of in my early twenties. I felt very disconnected from all the characters in this book, and therefore wasn't invested in what happened to them, or had happened to them. YA is usually a genre that I love, even if I'm not in the intended age bracket, but maybe teens would better relate to Every You, Every Me than I did. Of course, I'm certainly not giving up on Levithan– I just won't be rereading this specific book of his. For more reviews, visit inthenextroom.blogspot.com

In the attorney/crime solver genre, this is an entertaining read. Likable protagonist, a little to flippantly defiant in the "rules don't apply to me" catagory, but engaging story. Good vacation or beach read.

A fun piece of historical fiction. It would be sad if the heroine and her grandpa weren't so feisty and creative. They are about to lose their homes in the creation of the Smoky Mountain National Park, but their interactions with outsiders make the story amusing. The local color, colloquialisms, and superstitions all added to my enjoyment. What's funny is the first few pages weren't working for me. I considered not even finishing, so now I'm happy I stuck with it.

I adored this book, although I had to stop reading it for several days after one particularly disturbing passage. More detailed review later.

Cesur çizimler ve genç bir kızın kendi odası için umutları hakkında harika bir hikaye. İspanyolca veya İngilizce okumak için keyifli bir kitap!
